Position:Business Analyst With LIMS
Location:Thousand Oaks, CA.
Duration:12+ month

 

Description:
This is an expert/lead-level job posting. This position seeks an individual with strong expertise in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), deep understanding of laboratory processes, system development, system validation and project management. The resource will work on all of the system development lifecycle processes, and will perform end user support. These include:

 

1) System Validation and Documentation
• Generate Validation documentation, specifically, System Design Specification
• Support for IQ creation and testing
• Development testing – testing of enhancements and fixes, including assessment of impact to other areas of the system

 

To perform these tasks, an individual would need to have the following:
• Basic understanding of the validation process
• Strong understanding of LIMS and ability to learn StarLIMS in particular
• Ability to create and/or execute validation-related documents (Requirements, test protocols, summary reports)

 

2) Method Development/Implementation
• Develop configuration and qualification documents using analytical method and qualification templates
• Develop test data sets
• Perform basic method configuration in StarLIMS
• Perform development testing once IS resources have configured the calculation scripts
• Work with analysts to ensure tests are performing as required and work with IS to remediate any issues found in dev testing
• Create test protocol and execute testing
• Create test summary reports

 

To perform these tasks, an individual would need to have the following:
• Strong understanding of the laboratory process
• Understanding of the data and calculations required for results analysis
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Visio
• Strong understanding of LIMS and ability to learn StarLIMS in particular
• Project management skills, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and tight timelines

 

3) LIMS technical support
• Investigate and replicate reported issues
• Determine if the issue is a system issue (bug, enhancement required, usability issue) or a training issue
• Test Implementation – creation/configuration of tests in Training, Test and Prod
• Create test documentation and support change control activities
• User support/troubleshooting

 

To perform these tasks, an individual would need to have the following:
• Basic understanding of the laboratory process
• Basic understanding of LIMS and ability to learn StarLIMS in particular
• Project management skills, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and tight timelines
• Ability to create and/or execute validation-related documents (Requirements, test protocols, summary reports)

 

4) Reporting
• Basic understanding of LIMS database structure
• Experience with LIMS reporting
• Experience with Crystal Reports
• Familiarity with the lab process so that appropriate test data can be created
• Skill in formatting/organizing reports so that they are easy to read (organization of columns, headers, page breaks, etc.) and logically presented
