Police were called to a Dallas hotel on Monday night when a poolside spat between hip-hop star Nicki Minaj and an unidentified male friend turned violent.

The rapper told an employee at the Palomar Hotel to call the cops as she left the pool area and headed for her suite, where the mystery man was waiting for her.

When the authorities arrived on the scene, Minaj told them her guest, who was no longer in her room, had hit her in the lower lip during an argument, reports TMZ.com.

Minaj refused to press charges, but she did co-operate with police as they took an incident report.

She told the cops the man was not her boyfriend.
