Jada Pinkett Smith might
have said goodbye to
Gotham and her role as nightclub owner Fish Mooney, but the actress is set to play another club owner – this time on the big-screen in
Magic Mike XXL.
"I'm a club owner again, and she helps the guys find their way," Pinkett Smith told PEOPLE at the
Gotham finale screening in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
As for what she loves the most about the
popular strip club movie?
"The one thing that I love about
Magic Mike is it is so celebratory, meaning that you know these beautiful men come and entertain, and acknowledge, and validate the audience of beautiful women," Pinkett Smith explained. "And those beautiful women get to acknowledge and validate the beautiful men on stage, and it's such a celebratory environment."
She adds, "It's such an empowering feeling, and there's something in there for every woman, every color, every age, every size. I think that's what I love most about it. It's a really dope film."
But Pinkett Smith, 43, isn't the only new face to join original cast members
Channing Tatum,
Joe Manganiello and
Matt Bomer in the sequel.
Amber Heard,
Michael Strahan and
Elizabeth Banks will all have roles as well.
"They're part of who these guys meet along the way, and the reveal of that is really fun," director-producer Gregory Jacobs
told PEOPLE in February.
Magic Mike XXL hits theaters July 1.
