{blackbabes} Ellen Pompeo supports Gabrielle Union amid ‘America Got Talent’ exit

Ellen Pompeo fired off a series of tweets Thursday defending Gabrielle Union after her recent ouster from "America's Got Talent."

"I support @itsgabrielleu commitment to speaking up to injustice. It takes courage," the "Grey's Anatomy" star wrote.

Union, 47, and fellow judge Julianne Hough exited "America's Got Talent" last week. On Wednesday, reports surfaced of alleged toxicity on the NBC talent competition series. Union is said to have addressed racially insensitive incidents with producers, according to Variety.

"Workplace cultures will continue to be toxic until there is unity and solidarity among all women," Pompeo tweeted.

"If you go for self in these moments you undermine the work we are out here trying to do. Obviously this network feels like they can operate like this and it's okay," she continued.

The actress also encouraged women to look elsewhere for entertainment.

"With that said GIRLS….instead of wack jugglers and messy Simon Cowell [a judge and executive producer on 'America's Got Talent'] watch @ReeseW and Jennifer Anniston [sic] in The Morning Show!! Soooo much better. Hard to believe these networks are still getting away with this," Pompeo continued. "Our work continues @itsgabrielleu."

Pompeo, who previously spoke about a "toxic" environment on "Grey's Anatomy," also addressed her own network.

"Also I feel important to mention our problems on the Greys set and every set has them…some kind of issue …there's lots of people in a workplace.. point is… exec producers and the NETWORK cared enough to help us make change support is crucial," she tweeted.

Union spoke out Wednesday, stating she is "humbled and thankful" amid the controversy.

"So many tears, so much gratitude. THANK YOU!" Union tweeted. "Just when you feel lost, adrift, alone… you got me up off the ground. Humbled and thankful, forever."

Reps for NBC did not immediately respond to our request for comment.

{blackbabes} Pussycat Dolls announce reunion tour 10 years after split

LONDON — The Pussycat Dolls are reforming for a reunion tour kicking off in Dublin next year, the American girl band said on Thursday.

A decade after they split, the group – originally formed as a burlesque dance troupe and known for songs like "Don't Cha" and "When I Grow Up" – will hit the stage from April in Dublin before putting on shows around Britain.

"The stars have aligned and the Dolls are getting back together," singer Nicole Scherzinger told Britain's Heart Breakfast radio show in a joint interview with fellow band members Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Carmit Bachar and Kimberley Wyatt.

"There's been unfinished business. It's been 10 years … we just all were ready to do it," Roberts said.

Asked if they felt differently from when they first started, Roberts – who is also a showbusiness reporter for Heart Breakfast – said: "A lot of time has passed and … we've matured, we've grown up, we've gained life tools, life experience."

The woman who first got them together, choreographer Robin Antin, had long called for a reunion. Fellow member Melody Thornton, who was not present during the interview, will not be part of the touring line-up, several media outlets reported.

"We're focused on the tour right now and … stretching," said Scherzinger, who in recent years has regularly appeared as a judge on British talent show "The X Factor." "We are working on new music and a lot of new surprises for the show."

{blackbabes} Gabrielle Union complained about 'toxic culture' to 'America's Got Talent' bosses: Report

Gabrielle Union made multiple complaints to America's Got Talent bosses about the show's "toxic culture," it has been claimed.

The 47-year-old actress served as a judge on the U.S. TV show for this year's season, alongside Julianne Hough, but it was announced earlier this month that neither of the women will be returning for the next series of the show.

Now, a report has been published by Variety, which details numerous situations which left Union uncomfortable – such as when guest judge Jay Leno made a racially insensitive joke while visiting the show's offices.

"Leno made a crack about a painting on display in a hallway of Simon Cowell, the show's executive producer and judge, surrounded by his dogs. Leno joked that the pets looked like something one would find 'on the menu at a Korean restaurant'," four people who were present at the time of the quip told the publication.

Union reportedly asked producers to report the incident to Human Resources but, following a conversation with a NBC executive, it never was.

Other incidents Union complained about included one involving a white male contestant, who wowed the audience with his quick changes between costumes. At one point, he donned dark makeup to look like Beyonce – which angered Union and led to her objecting to the contestant being in the show. While the audition was cut before the show aired, the contestant was apparently still allowed to audition.

The Variety report also claims that both Union and Hough were consistently given "excessive notes on their physical experience," which had a big impact on morale among the panel – particularly for Hough.

However, Hough denied the claims in a statement to E! News, telling the outlet: "I had a wonderful time on America's Got Talent, I loved working with the cast, crew and producers. I am happy to continue my working relationship with NBC."

Meanwhile, NBC hit back at the report in their own statement, which read: "America's Got Talent has a long history of inclusivity and diversity in both our talent and the acts championed by the show.

"The judging and host line-up has been regularly refreshed over the years and that is one of the reasons for AGT's enduring popularity. NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously."

Union has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.

{blackbabes} The L Word: Generation Q Cast on Why Now Is the Right Time for a Revival

When The L Word debuted on Showtime in 2004, it was the only show focused specifically on the queer community that didn't also center on gay men. But The L Word wasn't just revolutionary for the fact that it was an in-depth narrative about the modern lesbian scene in Los Angeles; it also featured frank discussions about sex, love, and found family in a brutally honest way. For this reason, it netted a loyal fanbase that clamored for more long after the show went off the air. Now, a decade after The L Word's series finale aired, the series is returning for an eight-episode revival, The L Word: Generation Q, and it couldn't be coming at a better time.

"So much has changed and so much hasn't," said Marja-Lewis Ryan, who took over as showrunner for series creator Ilene Chaiken, an executive producer on the revival. Speaking with TV Guide of the decision to return to the seminal show now, Ryan said, "People keep asking me now, 'What are you going to do now that there's all these queer shows?' There really aren't actually."

While in recent years queer representation has been higher than ever before — GLAAD reports that in 2019 there were 488 series regular and recurring queer characters across broadcast, cable, and streaming shows — Ryan pointed out that only a handful of series actually focus on the queer community and the evolutions of subcultures happening within them. Joining shows like Pose and Tales of the City, Generation Q aims to center not just on queer characters, but the myriad ways people live queer lives.

Three of The L Word's original characters — Shane (Kate Moennig), Bette (Jennifer Beals), and Alice (Leisha Hailey) — are returning for the revival, joined by a new group of queer friends whose lives are quite different from theirs. The trio will act as the guiding hands for this new generation, but their stories take a bit of a backseat, allowing new ideas about queer identity to flourish. The series' new characters include Dani (Arienne Mandi), a determined careerist who gets pulled into Bette's orbit, and Sophie (Rosanny Zayas), her long-term girlfriend, who produces Alice's show. Meanwhile, Micah (Leo Sheng), their roommate, is a trans man returning to dating, and their friend Finley (Jacqueline Toboni) is a charming PA from Alice's show who somehow ends up crashing on Shane's couch.

The radical differences in race, gender identity, sexuality, age, and wealth disparity between the generations allowed Ryan to address many serious issues affecting the queer community that still aren't given regular airtime. Those issues, like the fact that queer teens make up 40 percent of the youth homeless population despite only being 10 percent of the population, are things that Ryan still has difficulty wrapping her mind around.

"There's still something wrong here, there's still a lot of shame that exists in our culture," said Ryan. "I think that seeing more of [queer culture] is one way [to change this], and it's the only way I personally know how to affect change. I'm really delighted to have the opportunity to do so."

"[Marja] knows things that have passed me by — not altogether, but still, she's got a perspective from her generational point of view," said Chaiken, who knew Ryan from another project. "I think there are possibly new things about queer life... there are words and conventions that evolve, and what the show is going to talk about is where we've been, where we are now, and what we're navigating."

In order to showcase how the queer community is constantly evolving, Ryan focused on highlighting a broader range of perspectives to show how multiple generations can still learn from each other. The new episodes feature several trans actors in trans roles, already a marked improvement on the original show's painful-to-watch trans storylines, which were infrequent and unfortunately featured trans people as the butt of jokes.

Discover your new favorite show: Watch This Now!

Sheng, the only trans actor who is a series regular, told TV Guide that while "there's some slow, but happening, representation of Asian trans, masculine, nonbinary folx" on TV, in Generation Q, viewers are "going to see it in a new light." Sheng also added that he's "really excited to explore what it's like to be a trans person who loves somebody, who grows close to people, and what that looks like."

Meanwhile, Zayas is looking forward to the new series furthering the conversations around race and dating the original show started a decade ago. "The things [Bette and Tina] had to go through, and the struggles and the love and the heartache inside of that — you know, being in an interracial relationship and how they've navigated through that world — what it looks like today, that's something that's gonna look different. It's 10 years later," she said. "There's so many new stories to bring up."

But while there is a diverse and wildly empathetic cast of new characters in the revival, it wouldn't be The L Word — or even a show that accurately accounts for queer history — without the OGs. Hailey teased that a lot of lingering questions from the original show will be answered in these new episodes, while Moennig said that even though the trio are supposed to be older and wiser, it is "interesting to see how [the new characters] then mesh with [the older ones], the similarities, the differences."

"We're always learning from each other," added Beals, a gentle reminder that there's no age at which one really has everything figured out. "It was so much fun to have these new characters, and also to have these new actors who had this fresh take on this whole world. A lot of the people who knew this show, it was interesting for them to enter into this world they already know about through ... this generation's viewpoint."

Although we might not be quite sure where the revival is actually heading, as Zayas noted, if Generation Q is about anything, it's about being brave. "It takes a lot of courage to do what these beautiful people did in the past. Being able to be a part of that now and hopefully try and bring up other things that haven't been spoken about is something that's really exciting," she said. "To be brave like that is something I'm definitely excited to keep doing and striving to do."

The L Word: Generation Q premieres Sunday, Dec. 8 at 10/9c on Showtime.

{blackbabes} Kim Fields still mortified over wardrobe malfunction on ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’

Now this is a story all about how her skirt got loose, fell all the way down.

Kim Fields recalled  the "embarrassing moment" when she had a wardrobe malfunction during a scene with Will Smith on his '90s hit "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."

In the 1993 episode, Smith's character sets up a fake wedding with Fields' character Monique so that she'll sleep with him. In one scene, Fields had to do a quick change off-camera from her bridal skirt and jacket to her honeymoon getup.

"So I was going into the little fake bathroom on the set to do the quick change while Will was doing his quick change on camera, where he's ripping off his clothes and throwing shoes and just going a million miles an hour to get ready for what's supposed be our honeymoon night. And he kept getting faster and faster with the wardrobe change," the 50-year-old actress recently told the Chicago Tribune. "After we did a few takes, the costumer said, 'You know, it'll buy me some time if we don't button the skirt, if you just zip it up.' The skirt had a zipper, then a button at the top. And I said, 'OK.' And on the next take, we didn't button the skirt, we just zipped it."

This is when things went south … for her bottoms.

"So Will and I are doing our dialogue right before I leave to do this quick change. And all of a sudden I feel this draft around my legs and I'm like, 'Why is it so cold all of a sudden?'" the "Facts of Life" star said. "And I looked down and my skirt had fallen completely around my ankles. It was gone. There was no moment of I feel it slipping and I can catch it. Oh, no. It was gone. Around my ankles. And thank God I'm so short that the blazer that I was wearing covered my, uh, my treasure."

Fields said the whole thing happened on camera and while the take wasn't used in the episode, it was included in the bloopers portion of that episode, which ran during the credits.

Luckily, after the wardrobe malfunction, Smith reacted like a gentleman.

"Will, bless his heart, after he laughed and I looked down and I screamed and squealed, he was such a wonderful gentleman that he put his hands up and walked towards the camera to cover the lens, like don't-look-at-her kind of thing as I went racing out," she said.

Backstage, the two laughed about the whole thing.

The lesson she learned from her "most embarrassing moment"?

"Button up your damn clothes," she laughed.

{blackbabes} ‘America’s Got Talent’: Gabrielle Union & Julianne Hough Out, Simon Cowell & Howie Mandel Back For Season 15

For a second year in a row, NBC is shaking up the judging panel on summer juggernaut America's Got Talent.

Sources confirm to Deadline that new judges Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough won't be returning next summer. Set to come back as judges are AGT staples, Simon Cowell, who is also the show's creator and executive producer, and Howie Mandel.

Union and Hough joined AGT in Season 14, which aired this past summer. This is only the second time in the history of the show that a judge exits after a single season. The first time was after AGT's maiden cycle when original judge Brandy Norwood was replaced by Sharon Osbourne.

The producers decided to try something new last year by replacing long-time judges Mel B and Heidi Klum with Union and Hough. (Klum remained a judge on AGT: The Champions). Talent competition reality shows rely heavily on the chemistry among the judges, which cannot be created. It is unclear whether the two judges who sit alongside Cowell and Mandel on the second season of AGT: The Champions, Klum and Alesha Dixon, will also do the mothership series in the summer.

Fourteen seasons in, AGT remains one of the most watched shows on television. It has not been formally renewed but its Season 15 return is a no-brainer.

The news of Union and Hough's departure was first reported by Variety.

{blackbabes} ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Actress Ever Carradine Joins ‘All My Life’; ‘Shameless’ Shanola Hampton Cast In ‘Grace’

Ever Carradine (The Handmaid's Tale, Marvel's Runaways) is set to appear in All My Life, Universal's romantic drama inspired by the life of Jenn Carter and her husband Solomon Chau, who will be played by Jessica Rothe and Harry Shum Jr. Marc Meyers is directing the piece, which revolves around the love, life and laughter circle of a young couple as they plan their wedding in the face of devastating news. Jay Pharoah, Marielle Scott, Michael Masini, Chrissie Fit, Greg Vrotsos, Kyle Allen, and Keala Settle also co-star. Todd Rosenberg wrote the script, which Todd Garner and Sean Robins are producing for their Broken Road Productions banner. Carradine is repped by Gersh Agency.

Shameless star Shanola Hampton has been added to the cast of Grace, joining Kristin Davis, Greer Grammer, and Dermot Mulroney in the indie thriller from Anna Elizabeth James. The pic follows a bestselling female novelist (Davis) who is suffering from writer's block and hires an innocent young woman (Grammer) to watch over her twin children. As the novelist dangerously indulges in her new best-seller, the line between the life she's writing about and the one she's actually living becomes blurred. Shanola will play the best friend of the novelist. Davis and Grammer are producing. Hampton can currently be seen as Veronica Fisher on the tenth season of Shameless on Showtime. She is repped by Buchwald and Reel Talent.

{blackbabes} ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Renewed For Season 56 By NBC, EP Says

Days Of Our Lives is not going anywhere. The network has renewed its longest-running series for a 56th season, I have learned. I hear Days executive producer Ken Corday just delivered the news to the cast. NBC and Sony TV had no comment through I had been hearing for the last week or so that renewal was "looking good." According to sources, the deal with the network is not completely done but is close.

The pickup comes 10 days after word got out that the entire cast of NBC's daytime drama had been released from their contracts.

The cost-cutting move came during the annual renewal window between NBC and Days distributor Sony Pictures TV; a renewal for Days typically comes at the start of the year. Negotiations for another season of the show on NBC, which had been underway, likely got accelerated by fan outcry over the news of contract releases.

After a big wave of cancellations of daytime soaps, the genre had been stable for the past few years with the four remaining series, Days Of Our Lives on NBC, General Hospital on ABC and Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful on CBS. Like any network  programming, soaps have come under economic pressure amid declining linear ratings.

Days of our Lives, which aired its 13,500th episode in 2018, first premiered as a half-hour drama in 1965 and expanded to an hour 10 years later. The show has garnered 57 Emmy Awards, as well as multiple People's Choice Awards, GLAAD Media Awards and Prism Awards.

Set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem, Days of our Lives airs nationally on NBC in the United States and in more than 25 countries internationally. The core families are the Bradys, Hortons and DiMeras, and the multi-layered storylines involve elements of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama.

Days of our Lives is produced by Corday Productions, Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television. Ken Corday is the executive producer with co-executive producers Greg Meng and Albert Alarr.
