"Black Panther" pre-sale tickets went so quickly not even star Lupita Nyong'o could snag some.
The actress posted a video to Twitter on Wednesday celebrating the film's record-breaking first day advanced sales, but also shared her tongue-in-cheek annoyance at not being able to get some tickets herself.
"Yesterday, around 10:30, the 'Black Panther' tickets went on sale," she said. "I put it on my social media, I was so excited. 'Get your tickets now!' Then it occurred to me, I should get tickets, too! So that I can be there when the movie hits theaters and I can experience it with everybody."
But then, as she explained, fan demand that led to the movie selling out everywhere got in the way.
"15 minutes later — I kid you not — 15 minutes later, I was trying to purchase tickets, and they are sold out," she said. "Sold out!"
Earlier in the day, Fandango announced that the film had set a record for pre-sale tickets for a Marvel movie during its first 24 hours. Those not lucky enough to get a ticket for opening night will have to wait until Feb. 16 to see the much-hyped superhero flick.
