U.S. Women Make History as Runners Sweep Medals in 100-Meter Hurdles

It's a historic sweep!

U.S. runners Brianna Rollins, Nia Ali and Kristi Castlin each claimed a medal in Wednesday's 100-meter hurdle – a feat no country has ever accomplished in this event.

Rollins, who turns 25 tomorrow, came in first as expected, counting her first gold medal as she clocked 12.48 seconds.

"I just kept God first, [let him] guide me throughout the rounds, let his presence come upon us," Rollins said after the event. "I'm just so excited, we're blessed and we came out here and sweeped (sic)."

Ali, 27, took silver finishing at 12.59 seconds and 28-year-old Kristi Castlin earned bronze, coming in at 12.61, just .02 seconds ahead of Britain's Cindy Ofili.
Rollins also took first place in round one and the semifinals, while Ali has won the indoor 60 hurdles twice in the past.

"I was just happy to finish my race in this position, this is for everyone who had a hard time and bounced back," Castlin said. "Gold, silver and bronze. We did our job."
