Kali Hawk — Marlon Wayans' submissive co-star in "Fifty Shades of Black" — started out years ago answering the phone and booking reservations at Mr. Chow on East 57th Street.
One day, hat designer Ivy Supersonic called the restaurant. She remembers, "[Hawk] freaked out when she heard my name, and we started talking. I could see her superstar qualities then and . . . I had her model my feathered hats."
Ivy took the actress-singer to Bad Boy Records — where Hawk sang on a Sean Combs track — and gave her a new name: Supercalifragilistic, after the song from "Mary Poppins." Eventually, a new stage name was born.
"She kept Kali, dropped the rest of the name, and moved out to Cali," Ivy said. "And the rest is history."
