Fox has officially picked up to pilot Dan Fogelman and Rick Singer's baseball drama project, which now has gotten a title, Pitch, and has cast Twisted star Kylie Bunbury as the lead. The project previously had a put pilot commitment and had been earmarked for a pilot order, recently getting a tax credit approval by the California Film Commission.
Based on an idea by Singer, Pitch — from 20th Century Fox TV, where Fogelman is under an overall deal — follows a young female pitcher who defies the odds when she becomes the first woman to play in the major leagues.
In a drama pairing of two comedy writers, Singer penned the script with Fogelman. The two executive produce with Tony Bill and Helen Bartlett. This is Galavant creator Fogelman's second pilot this season, along with his dramedy at NBC. he also executive produces the freshman Fox comedy series Grandfathered.
Canadian-American former model Bunbury, whose recent credits include Under the Dome and Tut, comes from a sports family. Her father was a professional soccer player and so is her brother. She is repped by ICM Partners and Principal Entertainment.
