Following the miniature uproar over their red holiday cups and a recent viral video of a woman confronting a cashier she alleges stole her credit-card number, java giant Starbucks has another controversy on its hands.
"Crash" actress Thandie Newton was offended by a display of a black figure offering Colombian coffee beans on the counter at the store's Soho location in central London.
"Seriously @Starbucks? At the counter — Loin cloth and Safari hat on a black child. Happy New Year circa 19th century," the English star tweeted on Tuesday.
The chain replied to the "Mission: Impossible II" actress on Twitter, commenting, "We are very concerned to learn of this incident & we can't apologize enough. We have removed the figure & are investigating."
Newton retweeted another user who responded to her, asking, "Did you have to get your morning madeline out of a mammy jar?"
Newton is set to appear along with Anthony Hopkins and Evan Rachel Wood in HBO's racy new show "Westworld" later this year.
