Beyoncé's Die With You is a gorgeous piece of work, but whether it merits the $10 or $20 a month necessary to access it on Tidal is open to debate.

Posted as a video to husband Jay Z's streaming service Sunday, on the occasion of the couple's seventh anniversary, the intimate R&B ballad has Beyoncé looking wide-eyed and smiling at Jay Z as he uses a handheld camera to shoot her at the piano.

What's especially lovely about the song is the way it quickly moves between expressions of adoring and collaborative love. Beyoncé doesn't need her eyes to see Jay Z, she needs them to see with him. Also, she sings, "I don't need these legs if I ain't walking by your side." The relationship she's singing about isn't based on physical sensations alone — it's a full-fledged, long-term partnership.

Die With You probably will get a fully produced version for the world at large at some point — if Beyoncé's got better single material in her back pocket, it must be stunning. But the song's definitely worth a listen in this sincere, straightforward state. Even if you only sign up for the trial version of Tidal.
