Viola Davis is one of our favorite style stars in Hollywood at the moment. She loves to wear color, embraces her natural hair and has some of the most killer guns in the business. And as it turns out, she's also got some surprising beauty advice for your next big red carpet event.
The How to Get Away With Murder star stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about the show's return to TV and her recent awards show hot streak. When her name was called at the SAG Awards, she confessed to DeGeneres, she had a mixture of surprise and fear that she might have some footwear malfunctions.
"The next thought I had when they announced my name was OK, this is it I'm going to fall flat on my face because of my bunion," she said in the interview. "I've got a bunion on my right foot. So before the awards I said, just in case something happens, I told my husband to go to the store and get a can of Crisco."
While her husband's reaction was, "Small or big can?" DeGeneres's was a little more confused. So Davis explained. "I put it on my feet, as a lubricant on my feet, I just go in there and put it all over my bunion and my toes and the bottom of my feet," she said. "First of all, it gets rid of the ash, and certain people in the audience know what ash is — it's just dry skin."
And the end result? "The Crisco worked very well. I recommend it. It keeps the friction away form the shoe and the toe and there you go," she said. And considering she gave an awesome acceptance speech, we're guessing her feet felt just fine.
Have you tried it? Would you try it? What's your wildest beauty secret?
