Tamera Mowry-Housley couldn't help but get emotional when she discussed some of the racist criticism she's received for marrying her husband Adam Housley.

The former Tia and Tamera star, who is the product of an interracial relationship herself, opened up about that subject when she and her twin sister Tia appeared on an episode of OWN's Oprah: Where Are They Now? Friday.

"It's hurtful, because my husband and I are so openly and fine with showing love, but people choose to look past love and spew hate," Tamera said. "That's what hurts me because I've never experienced so much hate ever in my life."

"I get called 'white man's whore,'" she continued, with tears rolling down her face. "The new one was 'back in the day you cost $300, but now you're giving it to him for free."

"I couldn't even fathom or think of these words, because I'm a product of it," Tamera continued. "My mom is a beautiful black woman and my dad is an amazing white man, and I grew up seeing a family. I didn't grow up saying, 'Oh, that's a white man.'"

In spite of the demeaning comments, Tamera has continued to keep her head held high, particularly when she talks about her husband and their adorable son, 14-month-old Aden.

"I love my husband so much," Tamera said. "I love our family. I love our dynamic. I'm proud to be in the relationship I am because it's based on love. Pure love."

The couple tied the knot in Napa Valley in May 2011 and welcomed their son Nov. 12, 2012.
