{blackbabes} Lupita Nyong'o says her 'mind is boggled'

Guess whose mind is "boggled"?

That would be Lupita Nyong'o, the breakout star of 12 Years a Slave, whose depiction of young slave Patsey has earned her an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress — straight out of Yale's School of Drama.

Nyong'o started her Oscar morning with a call to director Steve McQueen.

"I called him because he's the man who put me in this position to begin with," she says. "I just wanted to call him to congratulate him, and thank him and share that moment of celebration with him. I just said, 'Thank you, look what you've done.' He really has given me the opportunity of a lifetime and I'm just so grateful."

Does the fashion favorite, who has wowed on red carpets of late, have a dream designer in mind for the big day? "I can't think about that at this moment," she says. "I'm just trying to wrap my mind around (all of) it."

With the Critics Choice Awards starting in just a few hours, Nyong'o says she's "made time" to celebrate. "Today is a celebration!" she laughs. "I had a good dance party with my best friend in my room."
