Position Summary: 
Business Analyst-responsible for creating business requirements documents in form of user stories, detailed specifications including mockup, filed level specifications and related business rules. Able to gather, clearly communicate and articulate in writing SMEs input for design specification.
Candidate for this position will play dual role of BA and Scrum Master. This position is for Claims Team focusing on Legacy System Data conversion and integration with Guidewire Property Claims Center application.
 
Essential Functions: 
Be able to review and gain understanding of existing system functionalities and new concepts introduced with GW system (Through User Story reviews, hands on system use and Legacy system documentation review and research) .
Understand conversion process concepts and be able to documents and map Legacy system data to Conversion database.
Be able to create low level/field level specifications requirements .Work with partner BAs, Subject Matter Experts and Project Owner to gather, create, solidify/fine-tune and gain approval on requirements composed. 
Able to lead the team and serve as Scrum Master. Be able to demonstrate and present developed features in large group setting
 
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Skilled in creating documentation related to mapping Legacy data to the Conversion database
Intermediate to expert skillet in Structured Query Language (SQL) in support of analysis and design efforts
Skilled in creating Requirements Documents, User Stories, and related test plans.
Skilled in creating technical diagrams, artifacts, report mockups, etc., to accompany business requirements documents
Able to work with other BAs, documenting customer requirements clearly using Word, Visio diagrams, flowcharts, use-cases and swim lane diagrams or other established tools and techniques
Able to work with programmers developing UML diagrams, prototypes and pseudo code from customer requirement documentation
Able to manage and track changes to system requirements throughout the development, testing and maintenance lifecycle, maintaining accurate documentation at all time
Able to maintain continuous communication with end user and developers through development, testing lifecycle, maintaining accurate documentation at all times
Assists Quality Assurance team in developing and executing test plan and scripts and User Story Acceptance Criteria
Responsive in providing early notification of issues potentially affecting work flow efficiency, end user functionality, system interoperability, etc.
Able to analyze manual processes and translates into automated processes, identifying necessary triggers and dependent events
Exposure to GW system, Property Insurance supporting applications such as 360Value is preferred
Extensive experience in conducting JAD sessions and ability to control group settings to achieve the meeting objectives.
 
Able to work in Agile fast paced environment, can work independently or as part of a team. Can follow instruction and is able to arrive to logical conclusions.
Able to articulate questions or present issues, in a professional manner. Excellent communication skills, while possessing the ability to elaborate on problem in lemans terms
Ability to effectively/efficiently communicate with peers and with senior readership
Needs to be able to make decisions and present solutions or design for input and critique from Product Owner
Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, procedures and theories of property and casualty insurance. 
Knowledge of information technology and insurance information system development. 
Knowledge of technology and how it plays a role in business processes.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, Visio, and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to establish attainable goals, objectives, and work plans.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize material, analyzes a wide variety of facts, and develops appropriate recommendations. 
Ability to create business design documents related to reporting and systems development projects.
Ability to work in a team-based atmosphere with ability to work independently when required.
Knowledge of project management processes and tools.
Strong ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level information to general understanding.
Strong ability to solve problems through analytical approaches.
Ability to work independently with little guidance to ensure completion of assigned tasks and initiatives
Ability to travel occasionally
 
Required Education:
Bachelors degree in information technology or relevant field OR equivalent combination of four years of education and work experience relevant to this position. 
Two or more years of business analyst, reporting, or IT systems development experience.
Two or more years of project management related experience.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Property Insurance Experience, preferred Claims processing knowledge. Familiar with Guidewire  or supporting Property Insurance products (if possible)
Post secondary education in information technology related field.
Four or more years of business analyst experience
Three or more years of related project management experience.
Experience in facilitating the design and maintenance of web-based applications.
