When Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini left "The Talk," there was little acknowledgement of their absence from the table. This week, Peete visits Bethenny Frankel's new talk show to discuss her ousting from the show -- and how it feels to join the many Americans currently struggling with unemployment.
"You were one of the most interesting people on there," Frankel prompts. "You're saying what's on your mind and you're going there. The next day you're not there anymore. What happened?"
"That's why we love you, because you do keep it real," Peete laughs. "This is what I will say; here is the bottom line. Every opportunity in life is a chance to learn. I was thrilled to get this gig on paper. It was the dream job. I have four kids. I can get out of here, go to car pool, pick up the kids."
Despite her focus on her family, Peete insists that she didn't neglect her job on the show. "I delivered. I did everything they needed me to do. But, in the end there are certain things that you have no control over. I ain't the first girl to lose a job. I mean in this country, everyone is losing jobs." She adds that the exit wasn't because of cat fights between the hosts. "I firmly believe that women can get along."
In fact, the most difficult part of the exit, for Peete, was the fact that no one discussed her absence after the fact. "Here's the deal -- when you get a job like this, and you are sort of erased from the table, that was the hard part. Losing a job, like I said, the country is in an unemployment spiral. So, I'm not the only one to do that, it's how it happened. Leah Remini and I just sort of evaporated from the table. That was the weird part. Then the viewers were like wait, what happened? This is a show about keeping it real and honest moments and now it's the 'elephant in the room' show. That was the weird part."
Watch the interview Tuesday, June 12th on "Bethenny."
