Description:
The SSAS Developer will serve as the resource and SME for designing, developing, and delivering high performing Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services(2005/2008) OLAP cubes using industry best practices.
She/he must have experience creating and modifying SSAS cubes(dimensions, facts, members, calculations, etc…). In depth knowledge of MDX query language. In addition, this person has experience creating and working with complex database schemas and large volumes of data(up to hundreds of millions of rows). This position may utilize SQL Stored Procedures for data migration and transformation from Teradata extracts to SQL Server objects. Ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SSAS and dimensional modeling, work well with a Cognos report development team that leverages this data to create solutions that present data through Cognos BI Dashboards and KPI's.
Must be a motivated, self starter who can work with project team to understand the business/technical needs and produce results. Strong communication and documentation skills are required. This job will encompass working mostly with SSAS and SQL Server Stored Procedures and potentially SSIS.
Designing and implement OLAP solutions using best practices in accordance with Microsoft guidance.
Be able to recommend and/or create back-end database solutions for high performance of SSAS cubes.
Work with project team to deliver OLAP solutions that drive strong return on investment and provide robust high availability and performance.
Ensure business and system requirements are met through working closely with technical team leads and help translate them into unit tests, test cases, and other technical artifacts.
Develop SSAS reporting data models, drill-down and drill-through capabilities, security / access controls and error handling.
Be able to accurately estimate tasks that have been assigned.
Assist other developers in design and implementation of high availability/high performance SSAS solutions while ensuring best practices are followed.
Troubleshoot and diagnose critical issues.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Must have - 5-7 years of hands-on experience in developing SSAS solutions using SQL 2005 or 2008
Must have - 3-5 experience in designing and developing database solutions using T-SQL in SQL Server 2005 or 2008.
Experience in designing data models, Star Schemas, Snowflake Schemas, slowly changing dimensions, and 1-3NF data models.
Experience creating aggregate facts and partitioning cubes.
Good understanding of systems engineering (to ensure high performance BI architecture using CPU, memory, storage, caching etc.)
Nice to have - Experience with Cognos in Creating reports using MDX and Analysis Services as a data source, Passing Parameters (MDX and regular) to drill down reports, etc.
Nice to have - Experience with utilizing Cognos Report Studio to create dashboards.
Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
