We're pretty sure this has already been proven by a spectacular real world example (ahem), but just in case it wasn't already clear: Do. Not. Mess. With. Rihanna.
The singer decided to skew toward the startlingly literal in her new music video for "Man Down," the fifth single from Loud, taking matters into her own hands by shooting down a man who had, the previous night, violently assaulted—and, presumably, raped—her outside a club.
The video is intense and gritty and already inevitably sparking some controversy online, but that tends to happen when a fatal shooting starts off the action—and things only get more retrospectively dramatic from there.
"Young girls/women all over the world…we are a lot of things!" RiRi tweeted after the video's premiere. "We're strong innocent fun flirtatious vulnerable, and sometimes our innocence can cause us to be naïve! We always think it could NEVER be us, but in reality, it can happen to ANY of us! So ladies be careful and #listentoyomama! I love you and I care!"
