In the African-American-themed wedding comedy Jumping the Broom, Paula Patton (Precious) plays a young lawyer who decides, after one one-night-stand too many, to save it for marriage.
So did Patton, who's married to pop singer Robin Thicke (son of Growing Pains' Alan, for those of older vintage) do, um, likewise?
"Well, I met my husband when I was 15, so you'll just have to imagine," says the 36-year-old Patton, who has been married for six years. "I don't have to answer every question," she adds with a laugh. "He was 14, so I robbed the cradle -- a teenage cougar, that's what I was!"
Patton joined Jumping the Broom when their son, Julian Fuego, was two months old. "Clearly, I stopped being celibate at some point," she quips. Her mom joined her for some caregiving, but "he (Robin) came and was as involved as any father could be within our travelling situation and his music career. He's an incredible husband and father."
One of two wedding movies opening this week in selected cities (the other is the Kate Hudson movie Something Borrowed), Jumping the Broom does have another celebrity couple connection -- albeit of the ex variety. Producer Tracey Edmonds is the ex-wife of producer/artist Kenneth (Babyface) Edmonds.
