Despite pulling out of the U.S. Open tournament due to an injured right foot and ending her two-year relationship with rapper and actor Common in April, Williams is in the market for Mr. Right.
So what should a guy do to date the top-ranked women's tennis player in the world?
"Call me! It's that easy," Williams, 28, told PEOPLE late last week at the USTA and Heineken U.S. Open Player Party in New York. "Just pick up the phone and call me!"
More importantly, Williams wants to date a man with strong family values. "I'm looking for a guy who is close to his parents – his mom mostly because you can learn a lot about a guy by the way he treats his mom," she says. "And someone who loves themselves because if they take care of themselves, they are able to take care of you."
As for dating deal-breakers, the tennis ace reveals she's not keen on bad habits. "I don't like smokers, and of course people who disrespect their parents and families. Family is very important to me."
Although Williams describes herself as "rough and tough" on the tennis court, off the court she insists men shouldn't find her threatening. "When people meet me, I'm different in person," she says. "I'm very nice and easy going."
