Garcelle Beauvais is staying booked and busy in her post-Housewives career, focusing now on producing and advocating for meaningful, representation-forward storytelling.

Beauvais is expanding her partnership with Lifetime with two new original movies she will star in and executive produce. They include: Taken at a Truck Stop: A Black Girl Missing Movie, an emotionally charged thriller and continuation of the Black Girl Missing franchise, and Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted 2 Love, a sequel to the hit romance that premiered last year.

"I'm thrilled to continue telling stories that resonate deeply with audiences and put women—especially Black women—at the center," Beauvais shared in a statement. "Working with Lifetime has given me the opportunity to expand narratives that are heartfelt, suspenseful, and full of purpose. Both of these films are incredibly special to me, and I can't wait for audiences to experience them."

In Taken at a Truck Stop, Beauvais stars as Kai, a tough, tenacious trucker and co-owner of her family's business who is thrown into a harrowing manhunt after her neurodivergent niece, Toy, is abducted by an online predator. When law enforcement hits a dead end, Kai leverages her loyal trucking network and social media influence to launch a grassroots rescue mission. The story underscores the realities of online exploitation, the strength of community, and the inequities in media coverage of missing girls of color.

This installment of the Black Girl Missing franchise continues to spotlight stories often overlooked, focusing on the disparities in missing persons cases involving Black women and girls.

The original movie received a Gracie Award win for Made for TV Movie, an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Television Movie, an Astra Award win for Best Broadcast Network or Cable TV Movie, and nominations for a NAMIC Vision Award and Black Reel Award for Television. Nautori Naughton, who starred in Abducted at an HBCU: A Black Girl Missing Movie, also won an NAACP Award for Best Actress.

Taken at a Truck Stop will be produced by Navid Soofi for PF Maple Productions in association with Studio TF1 America. Beauvais, Jason Egenberg and Gordon Gilbertson executive produce. Kailey Spear and Sam Spear will direct from a script by Germaine Hill and Francesca Gailes & Jacqueline J. Gailes.

In Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted 2 Love, the sequel to the 2024 romance Tempted by Love. Beauvais reprises her role as Ava, a celebrated chef who seems to have moved on from heartbreak after the love she shared with Luke, who was 20 years her junior. Now headlining a prestigious culinary event in scenic Ireland, Ava is accompanied by her charming new boyfriend… until fate stirs the pot. Luke, now a renowned international culinary school graduate, unexpectedly arrives with a new partner of his own. As their paths cross in kitchens and castles, unresolved emotions simmer to the surface. Although both appear to have found partners who seem like a perfect match on paper, their attraction and love for each other will force them once again to decide what is best for their careers and relationship.

Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted 2 Love will be produced by D'Angela Proctor for Undaunted Content. McMillan and Beauvais will serve as executive producers. Tamara T. Gregory will executive produce and write the script.

Peacock is developing Strangers, a thriller drama written and executive produced by Jon Harmon Feldman (Monarch). Leslie Mann (Cha Cha Real Smooth) and Gabrielle Union (Truth Be Told) are being eyed to star in the project, from Jennifer Klein and Sheldon Turner's 100% Productions, A+E Studios (The Lincoln Lawyer) and UCP.

Strangers is described as Strangers On a Train with two female leads. In it, when a long-neglected housewife befriends a mysterious woman who is her polar opposite, the two women find that they have far more in common than they thought. As their friendship unfolds, we soon learn that they both harbor secrets that could quickly unravel their quiet suburban lives.

According to sources, Mann and Union don't have deals in place but would play the two leads and executive produce if the project goes forward. Reps from Peacock and A+E Studios declined comment.

Feldman executive produces with Jennifer Klein and Sheldon Turner via their 100% Productions' overall deal at A + E Studios. The indie studio will co-produce with Peacock sibling UCP.

Mann next stars in Poetic License, which marks her daughter Maude Apatow's feature directorial debut. She is repped by CAA. Union's upcoming films include The Casket Girls and Forbidden Fruit. She is repped by CAA, Range and Felker Toczek Suddleson McGinnis Ryan.

Feldman has created such series as Tru Calling and No Ordinary Family. He recently served as executive producer and showrunner on the Fox country music drama Monarch. Feldman, who also has a project with Stephen A. Smith, Get Lifted and Outlier Society in the works at Amazon Studios and a novel coming out in 2026, is repped by WME and The Gotham Group.

Chloe Bailey, Lynn Whitfield, Lucien Laviscount, Anna Diop, Romy Woods and Coco Jones are set to star in a new untitled thriller for Universal Pictures with Malcolm D. Lee directing.

Plot details are being kept under wraps. Alan McElroy and Matthew Mixon penned the script. Producers include Perry, Blum, Lee, Tim Palen and Dominique Telson. Shaun Sutton, Philip Waley, and McElroy are executive producers. The film is produced by Peachtree & Vine and Blumhouse in association with Blackmaled Productions.

With Girls Trip, Lee made history as the first filmmaker to helm a feature with an all-Black creative team — both in front of and behind the camera — that grossed more than $100 million at the domestic box office. His acclaimed Peacock limited series The Best Man: The Final Chapters became the first original series on the platform to break into Nielsen's Top 10.

Bailey is best known for her Grammy-nominated work in the group Chloe x Halle, and she also launched a standout solo career with her breakout hit "Have Mercy" and her 2023 debut album In Pieces. On screen, Bailey she appeared in Freeform's Grown-ish; was the lead in the film Praise This, which earned her an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress; and played Marissa in Donald Glover's provocative series Swarm.

Laviscount is best known for his breakout role in Netflix's global hit Emily in Paris, where he stars opposite Lily Collins. He joined the series in Season 2 as a fan favorite and reprised his role in Seasons 3 and 4 — the latter debuting at No. 1 on Netflix's Global Top 10 and reaching the Top 10 in 93 countries. He recently wrapped People We Meet on Vacation for Netflix and Temple Hill, based on the bestselling novel by Emily Henry.

Whitfield is celebrated for her portrayal of Josephine Baker in HBO's The Josephine Baker Story and for her starring role as Lady Mae in OWN's Greenleaf, a collaboration with Oprah Winfrey. Her film credits include Eve's Bayou, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, Madea's Family Reunion, Nappily Ever After and Vacation Friends.

Diop starred in the horror film Nanny, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and earned her widespread critical acclaim. She also appeared in Jordan Peele's hit film Us and most recently starred in The Book of Clarence. On television, she is best known for her breakout role as Starfire in the DC series Titans, which aired for four seasons on HBO Max.

Celebrating 50 years in the music industry, Jackson is still making an impact including the recent viral craze on social media of her Billboard 100 high-energy dance track "Someone To Call My Lover" that catapulted the song back on the Billboard charts, nearly 24 years after its original release, reaching #3 on the R&B Digital Songs chart and achieving a 1,400% gain in year-to-date U.S. on-demand streams for the hit according to Luminate. She's also set to kick off yet another leg of her wildly popular Las Vegas residency, JANET JACKSON: LAS VEGAS, returning to the Resorts World Theatre stage on May 21, 2025 for a six-show run through May 31, 2025.

David Leitch's next movie How To Rob a Bank isn't done adding top-tier talent, with sources telling Deadline that Zoë Kravitz is set to star in the Amazon MGM Studios film. The deal reunites Kravitz with her Mad Max: Fury Road co-star Nicholas Hoult, who is also on board to star. Anna Sawai, Pete Davidson and Rhenzy Feliz are also on board.

The film, which Leitch is directing, will be released in theaters September 4, 2026. 

Kravitz can be seen next opposite Austin Butler in the Darren Aronofsky thriller Caught Stealing, which bows this fall. She is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.

Kendrick Lamar leads the way with 10 nominations for the 25th BET Awards, which were announced Thursday honoring Black excellence across music, TV, film and sports.

Lamar scooped up noms for Album of the Year and Best Male Hip Hop Artist as well as three noms each in the Viewers Choice (for "Not Like Us," "Luther" with SZA and "Like That" with Future & Metro Boomin) and Best Collaboration (for "Luther," "Like That" and "30 For 30" with SZA) categories.

Doechii, Drake, Future and GloRilla have six nominations apiece, while Metro Boomin has five and SZA and The Weeknd have four apiece.

Winners will be announced June 9 in a ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles live on BET. Kevin Hart is set to host.

Apple TV+ has greenlighted The Wanted Man, an eight-episode thriller drama starring Hugh Laurie (House, The Night Manager) from Hijack co-creator George Kay, New Pictures (The Long Shadow) and Kay's Observatory Pictures.

Thandiwe Newton (Westworld), Fionn Whitehead (Dunkirk), Gina McKee (My Policeman), Hazel Doupe (Say Nothing), Blitz star Elliott Heffernan and Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones) also star in the series,created, written and executive produced by Kay.

The Wanted Man charts the rise and fall of Felix Carmichael (Laurie), the elusive and powerful head of notorious British crime syndicate 'The Capital.' Untouchable for twenty years, Carmichael is finally apprehended, but while he's held in the infamous Staplehurst prison, it becomes clear that he's been betrayed by one of his own. As the traitor moves to dismantle the empire he has built, Carmichael must risk everything in a daring escape. Willing to stop at nothing to take his revenge, if he succeeds, he'll be a wanted man once more.

Newton is believed to be playing a single mother, with Heffernan as her son. McKee is believed to be playing Felix's wife, Dillane his older brother.

This marks SAG Award and Golden Globe winner Laurie's return to Apple TV+ where he most recently starred on Season 3 of Tehran.

The Wanted Man is co-produced by New Pictures and Kay's Observatory Pictures. Kay, who also serves as showrunner, executive produces alongside Willow Grylls (The Missing) and Matt Sandford (The Long Shadow). The series is directed Jakob Verbruggen (The Fall).

The Wanted Man is Apple TV+'s latest drama out of U.K., joining Hijack, starring and executive produced by Idris Elba, Slow Horses, headlined by Gary Oldman, and the upcoming Down Cemetery Road, starring Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson, among others.

Brandy and Rita Ora are set for the newly titled Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, the fifth installment in the musical fantasy movie franchise Descendants, following the teenage progeny of Disney's most iconic characters.

The pair reprise their respective roles as Cinderella and the Queen of Hearts from Descendants: The Rise of Red, the franchise's fourth entry, released last year. Others newly announced to be coming back include Paolo Montalban as King Charming and Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother, the latter being the only actor to appear in all five installments. As previously announced, Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker will be back, as well, in their respective lead roles as Princesses Red and Chloe, the daughters of the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella.

Picking up shortly after the events of The Rise of Red, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland explores what "happily ever after" is really like for Red and Chloe following their return from their time-traveling adventures and delves into the warning at the end of the film — that "there are consequences when you alter the fabric of time."

Production began in April, with the film to release on Disney Channel and Disney+ sometime next year. Rounding out the cast, there's Liamani Segura as Red's sister Pink, Brendon Tremblay as Maddox Hatter's son Max, Alexandro Byrd as Luisa Madrigal's son Luis, Kiara Romero as Captain Hook's daughter Hazel, Joel Oulette as Robin Hood's son Robbie, Zavien Garret as Dr. Facilier's son Felix, Ryan McEwen and Dayton Paradis as the Smee Twins, Squirmy and Squeaky, and Leonardo Nam as the Mad Hatter's son Maddox.

Kimmy Gatewood (The Baby-sitter's Club) is directing from a script by co-executive producer Tamara Chestna (Sneakerella) and Dan Frey and Ru Sommer (Descendants: The Rise of Red). Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh have returned as executive producers, with Gatewood also serving as co-producer.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Descendants, a major draw in kids' TV which debuted on Disney Channel in July 2015. Each of the first three films ranked as the most-watched cable movie of their year, with Descendants: The Rise of Red debuting on Disney+ as the most-watched original movie among Kids and Girls 6–11, generating over 10 billion social impressions.

Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country) has joined the cast of 12 12 12, Apple TV+'s contemporary international heist series starring and executive produced by Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan. Jack Kesy also stars.

Co-produced by Skydance Television and Anonymous Content, 12 12 12 unfolds across three timelines of a heist: the 12 months of planning, the 12 hours of the heist, and the 12 days following the heist. The series follows a disgraced FBI agent (Mackie) and an American career criminal (Dornan) who play a zero-sum game of cat and mouse across Europe. At the center of it all is the daring, epic raid on a bank vault deep beneath the streets of Zurich.

12 12 12 is created and written by Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble who will also executive produce. Kari Skogland will direct the pilot, as well as executive produce. Samantha Corbin-Miller serves as writer and executive producer. Mackie executive produces via his Make It With Gravy production company alongside Jason Spire for Inspire Entertainment. Skogland, Appleton, Keeble, Mackie, Dornan and Spire will executive produce alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television, and Anonymous Content.

The series is set to film in Hungary.

World champion boxer-turned-actor Reis earned rave reviews for her first television role, starring opposite Jodie Foster in HBO's True Detective: Night Country. Reis made her film debut in 2021's Catch the Fair One, which she co-wrote and starred in. Reis can also be seen in the thriller Asphalt City opposite Sean Penn, Tye Sheridan and Mike Tyson. She recently wrapped production on Castle Rock Entertainment's Wind River: Rising, the sequel to Taylor Sheridan's 2017 drama, and will be seen in Amazon MGM Studios' upcoming thriller Mercy opposite Chris Pratt, Rebecca Ferguson and Annabelle Wallis.

Darone Okolie (All American, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), Walnette Marie Santiago (Doom Patrol, BMF), and Sullivan Jones (The Guilded Age, Harlem) have joined the recurring cast of Tyler Perry's Sistas for its 9th season.

Production recently concluded on the show's ninth season in Atlanta with a premiere date yet to be announced.

Written, directed, and produced by Perry, the hourlong dramedy follows a group of single Black women as they navigate their complicated love lives, careers, and friendship through the ups and downs of living in a modern world of social media and unrealistic relationship goals. They must navigate this new-age dating scene as they search for love in their 30s.

The ensemble cast includes KJ Smith, Mignon, Ebony Obsidian, Novi Brown, Crystal Renee' Hayslett, Devale Ellis, Chido Nwokocha, Brian Jordan Jr., Angela "Angie" Beyincé, Branden Wellington, Chris Warren, and Kevin A. Walton.

Okolie will play Roc, and Sullivan will play Dr. Vaughn, with both coming in as love interests for a couple of special ladies, sources close to production tell Deadline. Santiago will play Nia.

Sistas was the No. 1 scripted series on cable among Black viewers 18-49 in 2024, according to BET and Nielsen.

Zatima, a Sistas spinoff series from BET, was renewed for a fourth season in 2022. However, there have been no updates on when it will return. The show follows popular characters Zac (Devale Ellis) and Fatima (Crystal Renee Hayslett) as they navigate the ups and downs of their relationship
