Jasmine Cephas Jones (Origin, Blindspotting) has joined the cast of Lanterns, HBO's upcoming drama series based on the Green Lantern DC comic. She joins the previously announced cast: Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Kelly MacDonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan and Ulrich Thomsen.

The series, from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

In a key guest-starring role, Cephas Jones plays 'Young Bernadette,' Stewart's resilient mother and forever the family fixer. She is a perceptive, big-picture thinker who demands excellence from herself and her family.

HBO produces the eight-episode series Lanterns in association with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. Mundy, who serves as showrunner, Lindelof, and King co-wrote and executive produced. James Hawes directed and executive produced, with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov also tapped to direct. 

Cephas Jones' recent credits are Neon's Origin, Starz's Blindspotting, for which she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Performance, #FREERAYSHAWN, for which she won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series, and Hamilton, for which she won a Grammy Award for Best Original Broadway Recording.

Also, her full-length album, Phoenix was released and can be listened to on all platforms. Further on the music side, she plays the character "Swan" on Lin Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis' concept album Warriors for Atlantic Records.

Amanda Sinclair is back.

Mishael Morgan is returning to The Young and the Restless for a guest arc on the CBS sudser. She is back on set taping this week; her episode will air later this spring. 

Morgan last appeared on Y&R in February of 2024 when her character made a brief visit to Genoa City. 

In 2022, Morgan made history when she was awarded the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress. She was the first Black actress to win the award.

"I was born on a tiny island in the Caribbean, and I'm now standing on an international stage and I am being honored regardless of the color of my skin, regardless of my passport, for being the best at what I do," she said in 2022. "Now there are little girls around the world and no matter what the industry, the vocation … they can strive to be the best."

The actress, whose previous credits included Chicago Med, joined the sudser in 2013 — first as Hilary, who eventually died in a car crash five years later. Morgan then started a new run on Y&R as Amanda, Hilary's twin, the following year.

In the meantime, fans can see Morgan in the Hallmark movie, Hearts Around the Table: Shari's Second Act premiering on Saturday, March 29.

A24 is adding to its partnership with megastar Zendaya and her film on the life of singer Ronnie Spector, with Barry Jenkins coming on board to direct Be My Baby and Dave Kajganich tapped to write an original screenplay. Zendaya will play the legendary songstress and according to sources, the star and Jenkins, who'd been looking to work together for some time, agreed on a version of Spector's story that could immerse audiences in what the singer's life with the troubled producer Phil Spector felt like rather than a traditional cradle to the grave biopic.

We are hearing the deals for Spector's life rights and for Be My Baby, the memoir she wrote with Vince Waldron, remain intact. The film is in development with Luca Guadagnino writer Kajganich who is hard at work on the expressive interpretation of Spector's life that Zendaya and Jenkins are after.

The hot rights sale was engineered by Zendaya, Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, who will all produce along with Mark Itkin and Tom Shelly. Jonathan Greenfield will executive produce. Before her death in 2022, Spector was an executive producer on the film and hand-selected Zendaya to play her. Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak, Jenkin's partners at Pastel, also will be joining as producers.

This marks yet another collaboration for A24 and Jenkins, including Best Picture winner Moonlight and the upcoming Sundance darling Sorry, Baby, on which Jenkins served as a producer. This is also the third collaboration for A24 and Zendaya following the Emmy-winning Euphoria and the upcoming film The Drama co-starring Robert Pattinson. She is repped by CAA Monster Talent Management and Granderson Des Rochers.

Jenkins recently directed Mufasa: The Lion King for Disney, which has crossed $720 million at the global box office. The film recently hit another milestone, becoming the sixth highest grossing film of 2024, passing Dune Part Two. He most notably directed Best Picture Winner Moonlight, which also won him the Oscar for Adapted Screenplay. Jenkins' If Beale Street Could Talk received three Oscar nominations and won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Film. His limited series Underground Railroad won him best limited series at the Golden Globes and BAFTA and earned Jenkins a DGA Award for Best Director. It also scored seven Emmy nominations.

He also recently teamed with busy A-lister Glen Powell on the adult sci-fi pic The Natural Order for Universal. The pic is based on the upcoming novel by Matt Aldrich and has Powell starring and Jenkins directing. Jenkins is repped by CAA, manager Jewerl Keats Ross and lawyer Jamie Feldman.

Kajganich's screenwriting credits include three films for Luca Guadagnino, A Bigger Splash, Suspiria and Bones and All, as well as creating and running the first season of AMC's The Terror. He is repped by Anonymous Content, UTA and Jackoway, Austen, Tyerman and Wertheimer.

Mariah Carey's festive song All I Want For Christmas Is You is one of the bestselling Yuletide tracks of the last 30 years.

Now she has been cleared of any copyright infringement in a U.S. court ruling made Wednesday.

BBC News reports that songwriter Adam Stone alleged that Carey, who released her song in 1994, "exploited his popularity and style" after his song with the same name was released five years before, recorded under his performing name of Vince Vance (and the Valiants). He claimed at least $20 million in damages.

Judge Mónica Ramírez Almadani accepted expert testimony that the two songs shared "Christmas song cliches," and that Stone and his team had not met their burden "of showing the songs were substantially similar."

In rejecting Stone's case, the judge also imposed sanctions for filing "frivolous" arguments and ordered that Stone and his lawyers pay Carey's legal bills.

The BBC reports that, in her 2020 memoir, Carey wrote she had composed "most of the song on a cheap little Casio keyboard," while playing the movie It's a Wonderful Life for inspiration, before completing it in the studio with her co-writer Walter Afanasieff.

Carey's song is one of the most popular Christmas songs of all time, reported to earn its writers approximately $8.5 million every year.

It has spent 140 weeks in the UK's top 100 music chart, and is estimated to have made approximately $100 million since its release. It was the lead single from Carey's fourth studio album, and in 2023 was selected by the Library of Congress for inclusion in the National Recording Registry.

Precious Way (Heist 88) and Jalyn Hall (Till) have joined the cast of Tracy Morgan's untitled NBC comedy pilot from Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and writer Sam Means.

Written by Carlock and Means, the comedy stars Morgan as Reggie, a disgraced former football player on a mission to rehabilitate his image.

The pair joins previously announced cast members Erika Alexander as Monica, Reggie's childhood sweetheart from Brooklyn who co-parents with him and still is his agent and business manager, even though they divorced years ago; Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Tobin, an award-winning filmmaker who moves into Reggie's mansion to film an immersive documentary about the former star running back; and Bobby Moynihan as Gator, Reggie's loyal former teammate who has always stuck with him even when things went sideways.

Also in series-regular roles, Way will portray Brina, Reggie's loving and supportive fiancée who sees the documentary as an opportunity to advance her stardom; Hall will portray Carmelo, Reggie and Monica's son, a high schooler who has grown up in the shadow of Reggie's football career.

Carlock, Means and Morgan executive produce with Fey, Eric Gurian and David Miner. Rhys Thomas is executive producer and director of the pilot only. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, where Fey, Carlock and Means are under overall deals, produces with Little Stranger, Bevel Gears and 3 Arts.

Way starred in the Showtime original film Heist 88, opposite Courtney B. Vance. She also had a recurring role as the daughter of Naomi (Brandy) on the ABC musical drama series Queens. Additionally, Way played the lead role in the AllBlk half-hour comedy Partners in Rhyme, opposite MC Lyte, and starred in the horror-thriller You're Not Alone. She is repped by Buchwald and Zero Gravity Management.

For his performance in the film Till, starring alongside Danielle Deadwyler and Whoopi Goldberg, Hall received an NAACP Image Award, a Critics Choice Award nomination and an African American Film Critics Association Award. He recently appeared in the Peacock limited series Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Hart. Additional TV credits include playing a young Martin Luther King Jr. in the Emmy-nominated Genius: MLK/X, the Hulu/Onyx feature Bruiser, Disney+'s The Crossover, and the CW series All American. Gabrielle Dennis (The Big Door Prize) and Michael Potts (The Piano Lesson) have joined the cast of Nemesis, a crime drama created by Courtney A. Kemp ("Power" Universe) and Tani Marole described as an action heist series in the vein of Power set in LA where the new series will film.

In series regular roles, Dennis will play 'Candace Stiles' and Potts will play 'James Sealey.'

They join the previously announced cast of Matthew Law, Y'Ian Noel, Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Domenick Lombardozzi, Jonnie Park and Ariana Guerra.

Nemesis is the story of two men on either side of the law, the tale of what happens when an unstoppable force (an expert criminal), Coltrane Wilder (Noel), meets an immovable object (a brilliant police detective), Isaiah Stiles (Law). What starts as a series that aims to subvert the heist genre at every turn, amped with thrilling life-or-death stakes, family dynamics and explosive action, actually gives birth to an exploration of what drives us, sustains us, and ultimately destroys us.

In her first project with Netflix, Kemp serves as showrunner on Nemesis, which she is executive producing with Marole, Chris Selak of Kemp's End of Episode and Philipp Barnett. Mario Van Peebles (Power Book III: Raising Kanan) will direct and executive produce Episodes 1 and 2.

Dennis most recently starred in the Apple TV+ comedy The Big Door Prize for two seasons opposite Chris O'Dowd, Damon Gupta and Josh Segarra and Netflix's The Upshaws in the fourth season of the hit comedy opposite Wanda Sykes, Kim Fields and Mike Epps. Additional TV credits include HBO's A Black Lady Sketch Show, CBS' S.W.A.T., Marvel's Luke Cage and HBO's Insecure with film credits in One of Them Days, A Madea Homecoming and Girls Trip. Potts is best known for his portrayal of 'Brother Mouzone' in the hit drama series The Wire and Detective Maynard Gilbough in True Detective, both from HBO. He has also had notable roles on the big screen in The Piano Lesson, Rustin, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. A Single White Female remake is moving at Sony and 3000 Pictures with Wednesday star Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell (Bones and All) in talks to star.

There's no word on who might direct the remake, which was first reported on in The Insneider. We understand the film is in the very early stages of development. Russell and Ortega will also produce the film.

The original Single White Female was directed by Barbet Schroeder and starred Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bridget Fonda. In the film, Fonda starred as Allison "Allie" Jones, a software designer living in New York City, who advertises for a roommate after she discovers her live-in fiance has been cheating on her. She soon finds something very strange is going on with the tenant (Leigh) who decides to move in. Sony's Columbia Pictures distributed the original, which grossed $48 million domestically.

There's been a few attempts at reviving the picture since then. In 2005, a direct-to-video sequel titled Single White Female 2: The Psycho was released. That film starred Kristen Miller and Allison Lange. In 2016, NBC announced plans to produce and broadcast an hour-long drama based on the original film. That never saw the light of day.

Ortega is best known for her portrayal of Wednesday Addams in Tim Burton's modern-day take on The Addams Family for Netflix. She also starred in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the follow-up to the original 1988 film starring Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara, and Winona Ryder. 

Russell was the lead opposite Timothée Chalamet in Luca Guadagnino's Bones and All. She has also starred in Waves, Escape Room, Na Hong-jin's forthcoming Hope, and will lead a Thomas Crown Affair reboot directed by Michael B. Jordan.

She is best known for her fan-favorite role of attorney Maxine Shaw in Yvette Lee Bowser's beloved comedy series Living Single. Addition credits include Get Out, The Cosby Show, Black Lightning and Wu-Tang: An American Saga.

As co-founder of Color Farm Media and a board member of VoteRunLead, Alexander is on a mission to bring greater equity, inclusion and diverse representation to both media and electoral politics. The Braxtons will continue to share their lives with television viewers as We TV has renewed the reality series for a second season.

Toni, Towanda, Trina, Tamar and Ms. Evelyn are set to return this fall, and filming for Season 2 is underway.

"The Braxtons helped create a new genre by being one of the first families to open up their lives and authentic selves to the world on television, and they're still doing it," said Brett Dismuke, Head of Content at We TV and AllBlk.

"Viewers and fans were thrilled to see Toni, Towanda, Trina, Tamar and Ms. Evelyn back on their screens in an elevated, docuseries format – and demanded more," Dismuke continued. Season 2 of The Braxtons will showcase the sisters aiming to return to their roots of fun and humor and spend much-needed quality time with one another as they plan and celebrate Towanda's wedding.

As the entire family gathers for the pending nuptials, the sisters also continue to work on healing their relationships and address unresolved issues, which is complicated as they continue processing the intense grief from the passing of their sister, Traci.

The Braxtons returned to We TV in 2024 following their seven-season run of Braxton Family Values on the cable network. The first season featured Toni launching her Las Vegas residency and Towanda and Trina balancing their businesses and motherhood, while Tamar continued to expand her music and media empire.

Following a lengthy audition process, Michael B. Jordan looks to have zeroed in on the leading lady for his new The Thomas Crown Affair movie. Sources tell Deadline that Taylor Russell has landed the coveted role in the reimagining opposite Jordan, who is set to star and direct.

Jordan will also produce via his production banner Outlier Society alongside Elizabeth Raposo. The film will be released exclusively in theaters.

When Jordan set this as his next film last fall, the obvious next question was who would Jordan would steam up the screen with. The previous two Thomas Crown Affair films turned Faye Dunaway and Rene Russo into instant A-listers, so the role quickly became one of the more sought-after in town. On top of that, with Mission: Impossible films winding down and James Bond way off, Jordan has seen this as a potential replacement given the character's similarities to 007. With that in mind, Russell could be creating her own version of the iconic Bond girl.

Russell went through a long casting process that included meetings, auditions and ultimately a screen test with Jordan in London at the top of the year. That final test sealed the deal and Russell is now set to join Jordan this summer in London to start production.

This will mark the third Thomas Crown Affair pic. The most recent bowed in 1999, when Pierce Brosnan played the rich playboy who enjoys stealing art for a hobby but meets his match in an insurance investigator (Russo), who quickly fall for each other. The original 1968 movie paired Steve McQueen and Dunaway and was directed by Norman Jewison. Plot details on the new pic are being kept under wraps.

Russell already has strong ties with the studio after starring in the thriller Bones and All opposite Timothée Chalamet. Her big break came in the Netflix series Lost In Space, and she also earned rave reviews in the A24 pic Waves. She is repped by UTA and James Feldman.

Jordan and Outlier Society are repped by M88, WME and Greg Slewett.

As previously reported, Drew Pearce wrote the script for the new pic. A previous draft was written by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson and was based on the original film. Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff will also serve as producers. Alan Trustman, writer of the original 1968 film, is an executive producer.

The streaming service announced Friday that a second season of the show, which debuted this week, has already been shot. Meghan has said the show, which includes her chatting with celebrity pals, is not about a quest for perfection but more about finding joy in the little things.

Netflix said the second season would air this fall.

"With Love, Meghan" was supposed to premiere in January, but the duchess delayed the release due to the devastating wildfires in and around Los Angeles.

Meghan announced last month that she was rebranding her fledging lifestyles company to As Ever, after initially calling it American Riviera.

The Duchess was born and raised in Los Angeles and now lives in Montecito, California, with Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and their two children.

Wicked star Cynthia Erivo has boarded Lionsgate's action thriller Karoshi from 87Eleven.

She will star in the movie alongside Teo Yoo (Past Lives, The Recruit) and Isabel May (1883), as Deadline previously scooped.

87Eleven Entertainment's Chad Stahelski, Alex Young and Jason Spitz are producing Karoshi through their deal with Lionsgate. The film will begin production in June, with Takashi Doscher directing from his own script.

The film is described as a corporate thriller with a samurai twist. Further plot details and role specifics for Erivo, Yoo and May are under wraps.

Erivo remains booked and busy following her turn as Elphaba Thropp in Jon M. Chu's two Wicked movies. She is also set to appear as a set of sextuplets in Season 2 of Peacock's Poker Face, and she just released a single "Replay," the first off of her upcoming album.

She also will star as Jesus in the Hollywood Bowl production of Jesus Christ Superstar this summer from August 1-3. Wicked: For Good, the second part of Chu's duology adaptation of the stage musical and Gregory Maguire's novel, arrives in theaters November 21, 2025.

Erivo is currently in production on Gina Prince-Bythewood's film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi's Children of Blood and Bone, in which she will appear as Admiral Kaea, alongside a stacked cast of Thus Mbedu, Amandla Stenberg, Viola Davis, Idris Elba and more. She will also host the 2025 Tony Awards in June.

Hacks has lured Julianne Nicholson, Michaela Watkins, Bresha Webb, Robby Hoffman, and Eric Balfour for guest starring roles in the fourth season of the Max Original comedy.

Also filling out the cast are Danny Jolles, Gavin Matts, Grover Whitmore III, Holmes, Jasmine Ashanti, Katy Sullivan, Matt Oberg, and Sandy Honig, who will guest star as writers on Deborah Vance's (Jean Smart) new late night show.

The new season follows the tug-of-war between Deborah and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) as they get their late night show off the ground, while making history doing it. The rest of the season 4 cast includes Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo, Dan Bucatinsky, Helen Hunt, Tony Goldwyn, Kaitlin Olson, Jane Adams, Lauren Weedman, Christopher McDonald, Poppy Liu, Lorenza Izzo, Johnny Sibilly, Paul Felder, Polly Draper, Luenell, and Aristotle Athari.  

The comedy from Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky is also promising surprise cameos in the new season.
