The BET+ Original series Churchy has cast Jasmine Luv in a recurring role for Season 2. Guest stars will include Kirk Franklin and Keith Lee among others.

Inspired by/drawing from/from the mind of standup comedian "KevOnStage" Fredericks, Corey Carr Jr.'s (Fredericks) life takes an unexpected turn when he's bypassed for leadership of his father's mega-church. Determined to prove his worth, Corey packs up his dreams and heads to middle-of-nowhere Lubbock, Texas, with lofty ambitions to build his own ministry from the ground up.

However, after quickly stumbling upon the realization that small-town church life is an entirely different ball game, Corey slowly accepts that the path to spiritual leadership might just be funnier and more profound than any sermon could ever teach.

Luv will portray 'Breanna "Bree" Beverly,' the warm and charming owner of a local diner who becomes a confidante – and potential love interest – for Pastor Corey Carr (Kevin Fredericks). She joins the returning cast that also includes Mark J.P. Hood, Quin Walters, Tahir Moore, Lexi Allen, Anthony Elfoniza and Nic Few.

"Jasmine Luv is a fantastic example of an actress who began on social media and successfully translated her talents to the screen. She brings an incredible work ethic, passion, comedy and heart to the show, and working with her has been an absolute pleasure. She's got a very bright future ahead," Fredericks shared in a statement.

Season 1 also starred Anthony Elfoniza, Lexi Allen, London Solomon, Mark J. P. Hood, and Shani Shockley. Casting for Season 2 also includes Tony Baker and Tabitha Brown.

The full list of Churcy's Season 2 guest stars and who they will play is as follows: Franklin as Freight Train, a Hollywood-hopeful inmate with dreams as big as his cellblock. Affion Crockett as Carl Kruz, the eccentric MC hired to rig the Bible Bowl. Norman Towns as Niles Burton, a movie star deeply in love with Pastor Carr's ex-fiancée. Ramona Rideout as Cindi Strong, a small-town journalist whose off-camera antics always steal the show. Corey Calliet as Big Ray, a pest control pro who helps Pastor Carr out of a sticky situation. And Keith Lee as himself, rating Bree's cooking.

Churchy was created by Kevin Fredericks, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Melissa Fredericks of KevOnStage Studios. LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson, and Lezlie Wills are executive producers for SpringHill. Season 2 will be penned by comedy writers Richard A. Washington and David Murphy.

Luv is represented by Be Elev8ted Media and Franklin by WME.

Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ward Horton and Albert Jones are being promoted to series regulars for the upcoming third season of Netflix's The Night Agent, Deadline can reveal.

On the action thriller series based on Matthew Quirk's novel, Evans-Akingbola plays secret service agent Chelsea Arrington, with Horton as Governor Richard Hagan, and Jones as Deputy Director Aiden Mosely.

Shawn Ryan, the show's creator, showrunner and executive producer, confirmed Evans-Akingbola's Season 3 return in a recent interview with Deadline. A fan favorite, she returns to the series regular status she held in Season 1 after only making a cameo in the second season. Horton's promotion was presaged by the Season 2 finale, which found his antagonist Hagan poised to become the next president. Looking ahead, the finale teased that the new mission of Night Agent protagonist Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) will be to probe Hagan's links to shady information broker Jacob (Louis Herthum).

As previously announced, Season 3 new series regular cast additions include Jennifer Morrison, who plays Hagan's wife, Stephen Moyer, David Lyons, and Genesis Rodriguez. Season 3 returns to film in New York next month, after kicking off in Istanbul at the end of last year. Season 2 premiered on January 23rd.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television, The Night Agent's first season introduced Sutherland as a low-level FBI Agent whose efforts to save The President earned him an opportunity to become a Night Agent in Season 2. Working in the secretive organization of Night Action at the same time propelled him into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is in short supply.

In past interviews, Ryan has indicated that each season of The Night Agent will be a self-contained story, opening the door to new plot lines and characters with each go-round. Season 1 was set in and around Washington D.C. and filmed in Vancouver, whereas the second 10-episode season primarily shot in New York City, with additional filming in Thailand and Washington, D.C. Ryan shared in our aforementioned Season 2 postmortem that Season 3 would feature "some carryover," in terms of both cast and story, while reiterating his intention for "the seasons to feel separate."

Breaking into Netflix's Most Popular TV (English) List in its first season at #7, the show has so far reached the Top 10 in 93 countries, garnering over 134M views, with a total of 14 weeks spent in the Global Top 10. While the second season's premiere week viewership couldn't quite match that of the first, the show nonetheless topped the English-language TV list from January 20-26 with 13.9M views. Moreover, buzz around Season 2 was sufficient to place Season 1 back onto the Top 10 list at #4 with 4.9M views.

Executive producers on Season 3 include Ryan and Marney Hochman for MiddKid Productions; Seth Gordon and Julia Gunn for Exhibit A; James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and Nicole Tossou for Project X; and David Beaubaire for Sunset Lane Media, as well as Munis Rashid, Paul Bernard, Guy Ferland and Seth Fisher.

Currently, Evans-Akingbola can be seen starring alongside Jamie Fox, Cameron Diaz and Andrew Scott in Netflix's action comedy Back in Action, the most-watched title of the past two weeks, which has so far scored around 93M views and is expected to break onto the streamer's list of most popular English-language films. Also seen in Prime Video's rom-com Upgraded, as well as series like Siren and Black Mirror, she is repped by Hamilton Hodell and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.

Best known for a lead performance in New Line's The Conjuring spin-off, Annabelle, Horton can currently be seen recurring on the HBO series The Gilded Age, for which he was SAG nominated for Ensemble in a Drama Series. He's repped by Amplified and Innovative Artists.

Previously seen in films like Respect opposite Jennifer Hudson, as well as series like David Fincher's Mindhunter, Jones is repped by SirenSong Entertainment, IAG and Peikoff Mahan.

{blackbabes} Aurora Perrineau Joins Katherine Waterston, Simon Pegg & Minnie Driver In Drama ‘Angels In The Asylum’

Aurora Perrineau

Aurora Perrineau (Kaos) has been tapped for an undisclosed role in Angels in the Asylum, an upcoming indie drama marking the feature debut of writer-director Rob Sorrenti.

Perrineau joins an ensemble which also includes Katherine Waterston, Simon Pegg, Minnie Driver and Rose Williams, as previously announced.

Inspired by a BBC Newsnight exposé, the film tells the untold story of 50 women who were forcibly confined in isolation at Surrey's Long Grove Asylum. Beginning in 1907, these women — deemed typhoid carriers — were imprisoned in the former psychiatric hospital, their lives shaped by fear, stigma, and medical injustice. Pic explores their struggle for freedom and dignity in the face of a system that saw them as threats rather than individuals, shedding light on a dark chapter in medical history.

Sorrenti and Heather Greenwood are producing the pic, currently shooting in the UK, with Parkland Pictures handling sales.

Best known for her role as Dani Powell in Fox's procedural drama Prodigal Son, Perrineau has also been seen on shows like Westworld, Kaos, When They See Us and Into the Dark, among others. Prior feature credits include Truth or Dare, Passengers, Jem and the Holograms, and Drake Doremus' Equals. The actress is represented by CAA, Strand Entertainment, Insight Management & Production, and attorney J.R. McGinnis.

Tamara Tunie has a distinguished body of work that encompasses stage, television and film. Tunie stars as Anita Dupree in BEYOND THE GATES.

In film, Tamara starred as Cissy Houston, mother of the great American icon Whitney Houston, in "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," reuniting her with "Caveman's Valentine" and "Eve's Bayou" director Kasi Lemmons. Her additional film credits include Oliver Stone's "Wall Street" with Michael Douglas; Harold Becke's "City Hall" with Al Pacino; Taylor Hackford's "Devil's Advocate" with Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron; and Robert Zemeckis' "Flight," opposite Denzel Washington, with whom she also starred on Broadway as Calpurnia in "Julius Caesar."

Tunie triumphed on the London stage last season at the Old Vic in the critically acclaimed production of Mike Bartlett's "THE 47th," in which she starred as Kamala Harris opposite Bertie Carvel's Donald Trump in a futuristic imagining of a presidential run-off between the two. Her additional award-winning stage works include the world premiere of "American Son," a searing examination of race and class in which she originated the role of Kendra Ellis-Connor; and her Obie Award-winning turn as Marvelous in Danai Gurira's "Familiar," which grapples with identity, assimilation, tradition and the clashing of ideals of an African immigrant family.

Most recently, she starred as matriarch Florence Delva in the world premiere of "Bernarda's Daughters," another contemporary play that mines the effects of gentrification, police brutality and what it means to be "American" in a Haitian-American family in Brooklyn.

On television, Tunie is a seasoned soap actress who starred as Jessica Griffin in the daytime drama "As the World Turns" for over 20 years. Her additional television credits include challenged tribal chief Marie Van Der Veen in the Sundance TV series "The Red Road" opposite Jason Momoa; as Under-Secretary of State Eunice Clayton in the BBC/Netflix international drama "Black Earth Rising," which scrutinized the West's complicity in the destabilization of Africa; and as Julia in AMC's "Dietland," which explored the underbelly of the American beauty-industrial complex.

Tunie first gained an international following in the television role of medical examiner Dr. Melinda Warner on Dick Wolf's "Law and Order: SVU." Also, she was a series regular on the Netflix cult favorite "Cowboy Bebop," and she appeared on two seasons of the Apple TV+ futuristic drama SEE as The Bank, opposite Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard.

Tunie's television guest roles include the hit shows BLUE BLOODS, ELEMENTARY, THE GOOD WIFE for the CBS Television Network and "Almost Family," 'Emergence," "Better Call Saul," "Billions," "Alpha House," "24" and "Survivor's Remorse," among others.

Tunie is a founder of Black Theatre United. She is chair emerita of the board of directors of Figure Skating in Harlem, a non-profit organization that supports academic excellence and instills life skills to young girls in the Harlem community through the art and discipline of figure skating to ensure they are champions "off the Ice!" She serves on the board of directors at Harlem Stage/The Gatehouse and City Theatre Company in Pittsburgh; and is on the advisory board of Hearts of Gold, a not for profit that supports women and their children in New York City shelters and helps them transition out of the system. In 2005, Mayor Bloomberg awarded Tunie the Made in New York Award from the City of New York, for her support and commitment to film, television and theater.

Tunie holds a BFA in musical theatre from Carnegie-Mellon University, and now serves on the executive board of trustees.

Her birthday is March 14 and she was raised in McKeesport, Penn., near Pittsburgh, and she roots for the Steelers. Follow her on social media @msttunie.
