Sad notice on a Thanksgiving weekend. Irene Cara (Love Of Life) has died at age 63, per her publicist. The Oscar-winning singer was best known for the Flashdance theme "What A Feeling" and for starring in Fame and singing that film's unforgettable title song. Her cause of death hasn't yet been divulged.

Cara got her Oscar for Best Original Song for the Flashdance tune "What A Feeling," and also won two Grammys for a lively chart topper that perfectly captured the underdog journey of the welder-turned-dancer played by Jennifer Beals.

Wrote Cara's publicist Judith A. Moose on Twitter, "It is with profound sadness that on behalf of her family I announce the passing of Irene Cara. The Academy Award winning actress, singer, songwriter, and producer passed away in her Florida home. Her cause of death is currently unknown and will be released when information is available."

Cara catapulted to stardom when she starred in the Alan Parker-directed musical Fame about a group of diverse teens attending New York City's High School of the Performing Arts. The title song won an Oscar for Original Song while the film took Original Score. Cara later solidified her position as an 80s icon with "Flashdance… What A Feeling," which won the Oscar for Original Song with Cara as lyricist.

Her Grammy wins included Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female and Best Album Of Original Score Written For A Motion Picture Or A Television Special, both for "What A Feeling."

Born in New York City, Cara began on Spanish-language television singing and dancing. She moved on to the networks with appearances on "The Original Amateur Hour," "The Ed Sullivan Show," and "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson. She did various on and off Broadway productons, including "Ain't Misbehavin" and the Obie Award-winning musical 'The Me Nobody Knows."

She moved on to become a part of "The Electric Company," a children's educational show where she participated as a member of the group "The Short Circus," teaching children about grammar through music.

Post-"Fame" and "Flashdance," she appeared in numerous television shows and appeared worldwide in concert.

{blackbabes} Keke Palmer And ‘Hawkeye’ Director Bert Team On Action Comedy ‘Moxie’

The packages keep coming in before the Thanksgiving holiday as Deadline is hearing Keke Palmer is attached to the action comedy Moxie with Bert on board to direct. Heather Quinn penned the script with Palmer, Peter Lawson and Kate Churchill producing. The package hit the marketplace this week and already has interest from several studios and streamers.

The film is about a foul-mouthed stripper who pisses off the FBI in a big way when she somehow becomes the best candidate for their fancy new agent program.

Palmer is coming off her scene-stealing role in the hit Jordan Peele pic Nope, which bowed earlier this year and has grossed $171 million at the box-office. She also voiced Izzy Hawthorne in Pixar's Lightyear.

Bert recently directed a handful of episodes for the hit Marvel series Hawkeye. Prior to that she also directed the Viola Davis pic Troop Zero.

Quinn also worked on Hawkeye and also wrote the Marvel halloween special Werewolf By Night.

{blackbabes} ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ At Paramount Taps Lupita Nyong’o To Star

As she readies to make her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Lupita Nyong'o is looking to make the jump to another popular franchise: Sources tell Deadline that she is in final negotiations to star in Paramount's A Quiet Place: Day One. The spinoff will be directed and written by Pig helmer Michael Sarnoski.

Not much more is known about this project other than it not being a threequel but rather a spinoff, based on an idea from John Krasinski, who directed and starred in the first two films. The hope is this film will help set up a potential Quiet Place universe that the studio can build on for years to come. It also is known that, while not out of the question, Emily Blunt and Krasinski likely won't reprise their roles in this installment. The film is set to bow on March 8, 2024.

The original franchise is currently developing the third film, with Krasinski returning to direct that pic, which is set to bow sometime in 2025.

Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller will produce via Platinum Dunes alongside Krasinski via his Sunday Night banner with partner Allyson Seeger, who serves as executive producer. A Quiet Place Part II, the first Covid-era theatrical-only release, opened to $57 million at the domestic box office in May 2021 and has earned $297 million worldwide with a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score.

As for Nyong'o, the 12 Years a Slave Oscar winner is set to make her return to the MCU with the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which hits theaters November 11. She reprises her role as Nakia in a film that is expected to be one of the biggest draws of the year.
