Ashanti and Ja Rule will join Journey as headliners for ABC's Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest in Times Square. Karol G, who originally had been scheduled, has canceled her performance.

The changes are the latest for the New Year's Eve special, after LL Cool J announced yesterday he had tested positive for Covid-19 and would not be performing as scheduled, and R&B singer Chlöe also had dropped out.

Other A-list stars and performers still scheduled for Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest include Pose alum Billy Porter, who co-hosts in New Orleans, Daddy Yankee in Puerto Rico and a Los Angeles bill that includes Ciara, Avril Lavigne & Travis Barker, Big Boi, OneRepublic and French Montana.

There have been concerns about proceeding with New Year's Eve events in New York as the city has seen infection rates skyrocket due to the highly contagious Omicron variant.

NY Mayor Bill de Blasio last week had announced that the city would be proceeding with the New Year's Eve Ball Drop but with fewer revelers and tighter rules, including masks and social distancing. In light of the decision by the city to keep the celebration on, ABC is proceeding with Rockin' Eve 2022 while adhering to CDC/local protocols regarding audience attendees in Times Square.

Fox last week canceled its New Year's Eve special – Fox's New Year's Eve Toast & Roast 2022 – as a result of the rising spread of the Omicron variant in New York. The special also was set to be produced in Times Square.

Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest kicks off at 8 PM ET on ABC.

Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz team up in their search for justice in a new trailer for The Batman, featuring the bat and the cat, respectively. The film is set to open in theaters on March 4.

"If we don't stand up, no one will," Kravitz's Selina Kyle/Catwoman tells Pattinson's Bruce Wayne/Batman in the trailer above.

She adds, "The Bat and the Cat, it's got a nice ring."

The pair will team up against the villainous Riddler (Paul Dano), a serial killer who is obsessed with the Wayne family. But trust will have to grow between Batman and Catwoman in order to rid Gotham City of one of its most evil inhabitants.

And what will the Batman unravel in his quest for answers?

"I'm just here to unmask the truth about this cesspool we call a city," the Riddler says to Wayne. "You're part of this, too."

Wayne responds, "How am I a part of this?"

The Riddler adds," Oh, you're really not as smart as I thought you were…Bruce Wayne."

The scenes tease that Wayne's butler Alfred (Andy Serkis) has something to do with the revelation, as the former accuses the latter of lying. To what extent it is yet unknown. The lie could simply refer to lies meant to protect the family's legacy, or maybe the butler could be hiding something more sinister?

Space Jam: A New Legacy actress Xosha Roquemore has joined comedy Charlie In The Pandemic, which is now filming in the Hamptons.

Roquemore joins Reid Scott (Veep,), Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious), Adam Pally (Happy Endings), and Dylan Penn (Flag Day). Also joining is newcomer Peter Dager, a graduate of Miami's New World School Of The Arts, whose alums include Lulu Wang, Andrea Burns and Cote de Pablo.

In Charlie In The Pandemic, the Covid bubble is popped when a New York City family hiding out in the Hamptons is surprised by a Bloody Mary-swilling, pot-smoking 'Charlie' from their past who brings a lifetime of hurt that might heal them all.

Xavier Manrique (Chronically Metropolitan) and his Blind Bulldog Films has teamed up with Jason Dubin's (The Babysitters), Perry Street Films and Nicholas Schutt to produce.

David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada) is exec-producing. Manrique is directing a script penned by Schutt (Outer Banks). The film is shooting in New York City and the Hamptons.

Roquemore is also known for Lee Daniels' Precious and series The Mindy Project, I'm Dying Up Here, Black Monday and Cherish The Day.

Actress and producer Nia Long has signed on to ABC's Let The World See, a limited docuseries chronicling Mamie Till-Mobley's quest for justice that sparked the civil rights movement after her son Emmett Till's brutal murder.

Long will read excerpts from Till-Mobley's memoir Death of Innocence: The Story of the Hate Crime that Changed America, ABC News announced. The first installment of the series begins with an examination of Till-Mobley's early life, Emmett Till's childhood, the fate of his father and the events that led to Emmett Till's murder in Mississippi in the summer of 1955.

Till cousins Rev. Wheeler Parker, who was a witness to Emmett's abduction, as well as Thelma Wright, Ollie Gordon and Amos Smith will add context and a deeper explanation to the racial climate and chain of events that led Till-Mobley to make the decision to have an open-casket funeral for the world to see what happened to her son.

Former first lady Michelle Obama will also appear in the episode.

Let The World See, a companion docuseries to ABC's limited series Women of the Movement, premieres Thursday, Jan. 6, at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. Episodes will be on demand and on Hulu the day following their premieres.

Starz is developing a drama series centered on the life of African Warrior Queen Nzinga with American Gods' Yetide Badaki set to star in the main role.

Badaki will exec produce Queen Nzinga alongside Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson, Spartacus creator Steven S. DeKnight and Mo Abudu, who runs Nigerian media company EbonyLife.

Queen Nzinga takes place in 17th century Angola and follows her transformation from an innocent princess into a fearless warrior queen who rages a ferocious 40-year guerrilla war against the kingdom's formidable enemies, and the cruel subjugation of her people by Portuguese slavers. Nzinga would come to sacrifice everything to defend her people's dignity, liberty and freedom. On seizing the crown, Nzinga, the first-ever female ruler, decreed – "Call me king."

Thrust into a kingdom ravaged by slavery, ferocious tribal wars and ruthless male power struggles, Nzinga's journey is thwart with danger at every turn. She faces a brutal family blood-bath, ferocious battles intertwined with deceptive truces, hair-raising escapes, and depraved enemies. With every part of her that she sheds or is stolen from her, she moves one step closer to realizing her dream of freedom and peace for her people.

A search for a showrunner is currently underway. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television.

"It has been a long held dream of mine to bring the story of Nzinga to the screen. Her courage, determination and passion resonated from the moment I laid eyes on historical depictions of the legendary queen," said Badaki. "I am thrilled by Starz' continued commitment to much needed stories about and by historically excluded voices and the deeply talented team being built to share this epic narrative with the world."

Queen Nzingha is a story that I have wanted to tell for a long time, so when EbonyLife Studios finally found a home for this project at Starz and Lionsgate, it was a dream come true. We are happy to be at the forefront of forging these new partnerships with such an incredible team of creatives, because it is truly about sharing our local stories with a global audience – stories that are historical, authentic and progressive."
