{blackbabes} ‘Lethal Weapon’s Keesha Sharp To Produce & Star In Eartha Kitt Biopic

Keesha Sharp, who plays Trish Murtaugh on Fox's Lethal Weapon series, has picked up rights to John Williams' 2013 biography America's Mistress: The Life and Times of Eartha Kitt. She and her husband Brad Sharp will develop and produce the project as a feature film, and she will also star as Kitt, the seminal performer known for playing Catwoman on ABC's iconic 1960s Batman TV series and for singing hits including "C'est si bon" and the ubiquitous holiday tune "Santa, Baby."

Born Eartha Mae Keith in 1927, Kitt, who died of colon cancer in 2008 at age 81, appeared in films including Anna Lucasta, Boomerang with Eddie Murphy, Harriet the Spy, and Holes which starred a young Shia LaBeouf. Her TV credits are just as extensive, including playing Catwoman on Batman opposite Adam West. She also lent her voice in Disney's animated feature The Emperor's New Groove and the TV series spinoff The Emperor's New School, the latter of which earned her two Daytime Emmy awards.

Kitt's career took a temporary detour in the late 1960s and early 1970s after she made anti-Vietnam War statements, which led to her being effectively blacklisted. She made a comeback with her performance in the 1978 production of the Broadway musical Timbuktu!, earning two Tony nominations.

"Eartha Kitt was a force in the entertainment industry and an icon who opened doors for so many women, especially women of color during a time when it was not popular in America," Keesha Sharp said. "Although I may have been compared to her in the past, I am passionate about bringing her story to life because everyone needs to know how incredible she was!

"People don't mention her in the same conversation with the icons of Hollywood, but she belongs there. The biggest star at the time, Orson Welles, called her 'the most exciting woman in the world' for good reason. Her life was full of complexity, pain, and triumph, and I am thrilled to take on the challenge."

Sharp's recent credits include Marshall starring Chadwick Boseman, CBS' The Good Fight and FX's American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson. She's repped by Grandview and Hansen, Jacobson.

{blackbabes} Tika Sumpter To Produce & Likely Star In Robin Hood Reimagining Drama ‘Trader’ In Works At HBO

Tika Sumpter HBO

HBO is developing drama series Trader, with Tika Sumpter (Southside With You) set to executive produce and intended to star.

Written by Sonya Winton and Jonathan Kidd (Lovecraft Country), Trader is a contemporary re-imagining of the Robin Hood saga told through the perspective of a half-Nigerian and half-Black American female, Adefolke Girabaldi (a role earmarked for Sumpter), an investing wunderkind and trading forecast prodigy on Wall Street. As an activist short seller, Adefolke will wield her billion-dollar hedge fund as a sword to eviscerate predatory corporations that exploit the poor, all while navigating the unscrupulous world of the Girabaldi family who are the center of New York City's black aristocracy where money, privilege, and racism intersect in sometimes insidious ways.

Winton and Kidd executive produce alongside Sumpter and her manager, Emily Gerson Saines, producer of HBO's Temple Grandin and founder of Brookside Artist Management.

Sumpter can be seen starring in David Lowery's The Old Man & the Gun opposite Robert Redford, Casey Affleck, and Sissy Spacek. She'll next be seen in Tyler Perry's Nobody's Fool opposite Tiffany Haddish, as well as Joe Chappelle's political thriller An Acceptable Loss, opposite Jamie Lee Curtis. The GLAAD Award-nominated writers have worked on such series as NCIS: New Orleans and Wicked City.

Sumpter is repped by WME and Brookside Artist Management. Winton and Kidd are repped by WME, Madhouse Entertainment and Gang, Tyre, Ramer, & Brown.

{blackbabes} Four Weddings and a Funeral: Hulu Series Taps Jessica Williams to Star

Jessica Williams 4 Weddings

One of the 2 Dope Queens is adding Four Weddings and a Funeral to her calendar. Actress-comedian-ex-Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams has signed on to star in Hulu's forthcoming anthology series based on the 1994 Hugh Grant romantic comedy, TVLine has learned.

Also boarding the Mindy Kaling-shepherded reboot of sorts are Nikesh Patel (Indian Summers), Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Mindy Project) and John Reynolds (Search Party).

Penned by Kaling and fellow Mindy Project EP Matt Warburton, Four Weddings centers on Williams' Jess, a young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign who receives a wedding invitation from a college pal now living in London. She abandons her professional and personal life and travels to the UK with old friends and ends up in the midst of their personal crises. Per the logline, "Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and, of course, there are four weddings and a funeral."

The original Four Weddings, starring a then-unknown Hugh Grant as a British bachelor forced to attend his friends' weddings, was a sleeper hit in the summer of 1994 and even earned a Best Picture Oscar nomination.

Four Weddings and a Funeral is expected to debut in 2019 on Hulu.

{blackbabes} TV's Highest-Paid Actresses: Who Tops the List? Who's New? Who Fell Off?

The latest list of TV's highest-paid actresses is out… and one actress is just about lapping the field.

Modern Family star Sofia Vergara tops the annual list compiled by Forbes magazine for the seventh year in a row, pulling in a whopping $42.5 million over the past year — nearly double the next highest-paid actress. Vergara's riches come not only from her salary on the long-running ABC comedy, but also from a slew of endorsements such as SharkNinja Coffee and Rooms to Go furniture.

Vergara's closest competitor is Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco, who earned $24.5 million this year, largely from playing Penny on the hit CBS sitcom, currently airing its 12th and final season. Cuoco's co-stars Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch (both earning $12 million) are the only two newcomers to the Forbes list, thanks to a hefty pay raise the pair secured last year. Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo ranks third on the list, just behind Cuoco with $23.5 million, followed by Law & Order: SVU's Mariska Hargitay ($13 million) and Vergara's Modern Family co-star Julie Bowen ($12.5 million).

Three actresses failed to make this year's list after ranking in the top ten last year: Priyanka Chopra, whose ABC drama Quantico was cancelled in May; Robin Wright, whose Netflix drama House of Cards is about to unveil its final season next month; and Mindy Kaling, whose Mindy Project wrapped up a six-season run last year on Hulu.

Here's the full list from Forbes, compiled from June 1, 2017 to June 1, 2018:

1. Sofia Vergara, Modern Family — $42.5 million
2. Kaley Cuoco, The Big Bang Theory — $24.5 million
3. Ellen Pompeo, Grey's Anatomy — $23.5 million
4. Mariska Hargitay, Law & Order: SVU — $13 million
5. Julie Bowen, Modern Family — $12.5 million
6. (tie) Mayim Bialik, The Big Bang Theory — $12 million
6. (tie) Melissa Rauch, The Big Bang Theory — $12 million
8. Kerry Washington, Scandal — $11 million
9. Claire Danes, Homeland — $9 million
10. Pauley Perrette, NCIS — $8.5 million

{blackbabes} Tia Mowry & Loretta Devine Star In ‘Family Reunion’ Comedy Series Ordered By Netflix

Tia Mowry (Sister, Sister, Instant Mom) and Loretta Devine (Grey's Anatomy, The Carmichael Show) are set to headline Family Reunion, a new multi-generational, multi-camera comedy series for Netflix. The streaming network has given a 20-episode order to the project, created and executive produced by Meg DeLoatch (Fuller House, Eve) and directed by Eric Dean Seaton (Prince of Peoria, Modern Family).

Co-starring in the series, which has just started production in Los Angeles, is Anthony Alabi (Raven's Home, Insecure). Rounding out the cast are child actors Talia Jackson, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, CJ Wright and Jordyn James.

The African American family sitcom, which is penned entirely by Black writers, stars Mowry as Cocoa McKellan, a free spirited, fun, conscious mother from Seattle. When she and her former football-playing husband Moz and their four children travel from their home in the big city to the small town of Columbus, Georgia for the McKellan Family Reunion, they get to know an extended family they didn't even realize they were missing. Devine plays the loving but strict matriarch of the family, M'Dear.

Alabi plays Mowry's husband. The McKellan children are: Jackson as 14-year old Jade,  Russell-Bailey as 12-year old Shaka, Wright as 10-year old Mazzi, and James as 8-year old Ami.

"We look forward to bringing families together to enjoy the hilarious and heartwarming stories of this multi-generational American family living together and discovering the importance of connecting with their roots," said Melissa Cobb, VP of Kids and Family at Netflix. "Meg DeLoatch has created a warm, funny and memorable extended family that we believe will resonate with audiences around the world and she has assembled an incredibly talented all-black writers room to authentically portray these characters and their journey."

Mowry has the rare distinction of starring on three multi-camera comedy series that have gone to syndication, Sister, Sister, The Game and Instant Mom, and has done more than 400 episodes of television to date.

"I'm so excited to return to television, especially working with Netflix, and I can't wait for everyone to see Family Reunion," said Mowry. "I know my fans are going to love it!"

Mowry, who has 12 Million social media followers, is set to star in back-to-back Christmas movies this coming holiday season, My Christmas Inn on Lifetime and A Gingerbread Romance on Hallmark. Mowry will also be in the feature Indivisible and currently stars in the Kin Community online series Tia Mowry's Quick Fix. She is repped by UTA, LINK Entertainment and Felker, Toczek, Suddleson, Abramson.

"I am so blessed to be part of this new and exciting moment in time that will touch and bring laughter, smiles, and joy to everyone who sees it, Devine said. The veteran actress, who won an Emmy for her recurring role as Adele Webber on ABC's Grey's Anatomy, is repped by Innovative Artists and Essential Talent Management.

DeLoatch, who called working on Family Reunion "the most supportive and creatively fulfilling experience of my career," is repped by Gersh and Echo Lake.

Netflix has been ramping up its family sitcom offerings, recently also giving a 20-episode order to No Good Nick, a multi-camera comedy headlined by Melissa Joan Hart and Sean Astin.

{blackbabes} The Flash's Candice Patton: Iris and Nora 'Get On a Really Great Path,' Following That Rough Start

If you felt like The Flash's first scenes between Iris and the grown daughter she has yet to even conceive were… well, whatever the opposite of schway is… Candice Patton is here to reassure you that the kid's gonna be alright.

In the CW series' Season 5 premiere, "There was a fun moment between us at Jitters, where Iris is just so desperate to try to relate to her daughter," Patton recalled for TVLine at The CW's Fall Launch event at the Warner Bros. lot. Clumsily wielding 2050s slang, for example. "She's trying to pretend like she gets it — she wants this connection so badly — but Nora is just not interested, based on things that are happening in the future."

While acknowledging that such awkwardness is "fun to play" as an actress, Patton shares, "I always worried, 'I hope this doesn't continue over the course of the entire season,' because I don't think fans want to see Nora (played by Jessica Parker Kennedy) and Iris at odds for too long.

"Thankfully," she continues, "it won't be that way for very long. We've got a couple of episodes where Iris and Nora are finding their way, and then we see them kind of reconcile and get on a really great path."

In the meantime, Iris will be "constantly doing things to reach out" to her not-so-little little girl, Patton previews. "She's that parent that's like, 'What can I do? I just want you to like me and for us to have a good relationship.'"

A good part of the need for that affirmation, Patton says, comes from Nora representing "an indication to Iris that Barry and Iris in the future finally get their happy ending. I think that's always been a question for Iris and Barry, with the jobs that they have: Will they get married? Will they have the family they always wanted? And Nora coming back is this beacon of hope for Iris that, yes, they finally get it all. So yeah, she wants it to work."

Of course, viewers, along with Barry and Nora, know that standing in the way of that happy ending is the fact that Barry not only vanishes in 2024, but will remain missing… possibly forever. That secret between father and child will only keep "for a little bit," Patton says, so don't worry that the truth is a time bomb waiting to blow up WestAllen.

"We'll get into that sooner than later," Patton promises. "I think fans will be relieved to know that Barry doesn't hold onto that information for too much longer. No more secrets on The Flash!"

{blackbabes} Roswell, New Mexico Welcomes The Fosters Star Sherri Saum

Sherri Saum, Roswell

Lena's joining a new fam.

E! News can exclusively reveal that The Fosters star Sherri Saum, who played Lena Adams Foster on the Freeform series for all five seasons, has joined the CW's upcoming alien series as Mimi, the mother of Maria DeLuca (Heather Hemmens), former best friend to Liz (Jeanine Mason).

While Maria is described as an alien-oblivious socialite, her mother Mimi is "effervescent" and "charming."

"As a young single mom—and part of very few black families in Roswell—her focus has always been on raising her daughter to embrace everything that makes them "weird" to the small-town folks, be it the color of their skin, their unique dance moves, or their connection to spirituality. As both bartender and 'psychic,' Mimi is a vault of Roswell's deepest secrets," reads the official description.

"I was so inspired by the inclusivity of The Fosters while I was building our version of Roswell, so I'm incredibly excited to welcome Sherri Saum to our weird little alien family!" show creator Carina Adly Mackenzie said of the casting. "I'm a huge fan of her work, so I was just humbled that she even auditioned, and director Paul Wesley and I are loving the heart and gravitas she brings to a character that can be a little bit...out there."

Roswell, New Mexico

Saum joins a cast led by Jeanine Mason (Grey's Anatomy) as Liz, a biomedical researcher and the daughter of illegal immigrants, Nathan Parsons (The Originals) as Max, a police officer and secret alien, Tyler Blackburn (Pretty Little Liars) as Alex, a gay military veteran , Michael Trevino (The Vampire Diaries) as Kyle, the son of the town sheriff, Lily Cowles as secret alien Isobel, and Michael Vlamis as Michael, another secret alien.

The show is a different take on the characters we met in the first series in 1999, and is based on the Roswell High series of books by Melinda Metz. It begins with Liz returning to her hometown of Roswell, New Mexico to discover that her teenage crush is a secret alien. She tries to keep his secret, but that might not last after a "violent attack" and the following politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him.

Saum is best known for her work on The Fosters, but she's also had recurring roles on Gossip Girl, In Treatment, and Rescue Me, to name a few. She has also won the Human Rights Campaign Ally for Equality Award.

Roswell, New Mexico will debut on the CW in spring 2019.

{blackbabes} ‘American Soul’: Shannon Kane & Perri Camper To Recur In BET Drama Series

Shannon Kane Perri Camper

Shannon Kane (The Originals) and Perri Camper (The Bobby Brown Story) have landed recurring roles opposite Sinqua Walls in BET's upcoming drama series American Soul, based on the life and career of Soul Train creator Don Cornelius, from Jesse Collins Entertainment (The New Edition Story, The Bobby Brown Story).

American Soul is described as an unflinching look at the entrepreneur Cornelius, his Soul Traindancers, crew and musicians in an unforgiving Hollywood in the 1970's – how they work, play, rise and fall against the backdrop of Soul Train — "the hippest trip in America" and one of the most predominant television shows for African American culture.

Kane will play Ilsa Dejarnette, a beautiful, whip-smart, self-made entrepreneur. She is the lead attorney for Barry Gordy's Motown Records at the height of his power. Although not born into affluence, Ilsa is impeccably polished having attended the world's best finishing school and Ivy-League institutions.

Camper will play Delores Cornelius, the wife of Don Cornelius, the gel of the Cornelius family. While Don is in Los Angeles she holds down the fort back home in Chicago. Though loyal to Don, there's no denying the strain the new show puts on their relationship and their family.

Kane played Sabine Laurent on the CW's The Originals and most recently recurred opposite Boris Kodjoe on the final season of CBS' Code Black. She's also known for her praised performance opposite Richard Gere in Brooklyn's Finest. Kane is repped by Talentworks and Stride Management.

Camper most recently starred as the lead in BET's digital series The Last One, as well as the hit biopic, The Bobby Brown Story. She's repped by MMV agency.

She'll play Diana Macomber, the team's arrogant CRC network boss, a no-nonsense, tough-as-nails career woman who is proud to have worked her way up to where she is today. Her character will be introduced in the October 18 episode.

Merle Dandridge

"I am excited to have Merle Dandridge join us," said showrunner/executive producer Diane English. "She plays Diana brilliantly, and her comic timing is fantastic."

In the revival, Bergen reprises her role as the famous investigative journalist and TV anchor, as Murphy Brown returns to a world of cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate. Amid a divided nation, chaotic national discourse and rampant attacks on the press, Murphy decides to return to the airwaves and recruits her FYI team: lifestyle reporter Corky Sherwood (Faith Ford), investigative journalist Frank Fontana (Joe Regalbuto), and her former wunderkind news producer Miles Silverberg (Grant Shaud).

Dandridge currently stars as Grace Greenleaf in OWN's hit drama series Greenleaf. Her previous notable TV roles include Gwen Gaskin on The Night Shift and Rita Roosevelt in Sons of Anarchy. Dandridge began her career on Broadway with roles in Spamalot, Rent, Aida, Tarzan, and Jesus Christ Superstar, and she originated a principle role in the Tony-winning Broadway revival of Once on This Island.

{blackbabes} Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and Serena Williams to host the 2019 Met Gala

The "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute hasn't yet closed, but there's already a new Met Gala theme to look forward to.

On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that the theme for next May's event will be "Camp: Notes on Fashion," a play on Susan Sontag's 1964 essay "Notes on 'Camp.'" Sontag's work launched the term — referring to a love of exaggeration and a combination of high art and pop culture — into the mainstream.

Chosen to host the Anna Wintour-helmed event are three icons famous for pushing fashion boundaries: Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and Serena Williams. Last year's hosts, Amal Clooney and Rihanna, both made headlines with their choice of attire for the big night.

"We are going through an extreme camp moment, and it felt very relevant to the cultural conversation to look at what is often dismissed as empty frivolity but can be actually a very sophisticated and powerful political tool, especially for marginalized cultures," Andrew Bolton, the curator in charge of the Costume Institute, told the publication.

"Whether it's pop camp, queer camp, high camp or political camp — Trump is a very camp figure — I think it's very timely," Bolton added.

There will be nearly 175 pieces in the show, including men's and women's clothing, sculpture, paintings and drawings. Gucci will underwrite the 2019 fête — fitting, considering that Styles is the luxury label's current campaign star.

{blackbabes} ‘Alec Baldwin Show’ Sets Guest List: Kim Kardashian, Robert De Niro, Taraji P. Henson, RuPaul, Norway’s Prime Minister

Robert De Niro and Taraji P. Henson will be Alec Baldwin's first guests when The Alec Baldwin Show premieres Sunday, October 14.

Kim Kardashian West, wife of President Donald Trump's new BFF Kanye West, will guest the next week, October 21. That day Baldwin will devote his show's entire hour to talking to the "reality star, entrepreneur and cultural phenom" about her "famous family," and her recent political advocacy.

Last May, Nearly a decade after President Donald Trump reportedly complained he'd been stuck with Khloe Kardashian on his Celebrity Apprentice reality TV series when he really wanted her "hot" sister Kim, Trump finally got the Kardashian of his dreams on his latest reality series, The White House. Kim Kardashian came to the White House to make the case for pardoning 63-year-old Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving a life sentence on drug offenses and had been behind bars for more than two decades.

An Associated Press journalist who had a lot to learn about reality TV stars reported at the time it was unclear if Kim, who, like Trump, is an NBCU reality TV star, would get to sit down with Trump in the Oval Office.

"Great meeting with @KimKardashian today, talked about prison reform and sentencing," POTUS tweeted proudly to his 53 million followers that afternoon. Meanwhile, Kardashian tweeted – to her 60M followers – "Happy Birthday Alice Marie Johnson. Today is for you."

Alec Baldwin, of course, plays Donald Trump, brilliantly, on Saturday Night Live. President Trump is not amused. Baldwin does not care. Trump likely will watch that interview.

Meanwhile, ABC announced some of Baldwin's other guests for the first season of his Sunday sit-down show: Robert F. Kennedy Jr., RuPaul, Kerry Washington, former President of Planned Parenthood Cecile Richards, Jeff Bridges, Sarah Jessica Parker, former Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie, Mike Myers, Regina King, Gloria Allred, Ricky Gervais and the Prime Minister of Norway, Erna Solberg.

{blackbabes} Eva Marcille Marries Michael Sterling in Atlanta

Eva Marcille, Michael Sterling

Eva Marcille is a married woman!

Sources confirm to E! News that The Real Housewives of Atlanta newcomer exchanged "I Do's" with Michael Sterling on Sunday in Atlanta.

Marcille's wedding planner also posted a picture on her Instagram story and wrote, "We did it guys!!"

The newlyweds have both been posting photos on social media ahead of their special day. On Saturday, Marcille couldn't contain her excitement in one Instagram photo of the two of them. She wrote, "Mine all mine, One more day until 10.7.18 I love you Michael Sterling and I can't wait!!!!"

She wrote in yet another picture of him kissing her on the cheek, "I can't wait to marry you."

Last week, Sterling posted on social media for the first time in a few weeks to document a major body transformation. The lawyer credited his friend for inspiring him to want to change his lifestyle and lose weight. Sterling revealed he had 6 a.m. workouts multiple times a week and that he "put in the work" to get back on track. "I am grateful," he wrote.

Fellow Real Housewife star Shamari Devoe attended the wedding as well.

The happy couple got engaged late last year when Marcille got an extra special Christmas present in 2017: an engagement ring. The Housewives star posted a photo of herself holding up her hand to her face with the beautiful diamond ring on full display.

It's been a busy few months for the newlyweds. In April, the America's Next Top Model winner gave birth to a baby boy named Michael on April 13. It's their first child together. In January, Marcille talked to E! News about her baby and wedding plans. She told E! News she was "super excited" to have her baby, but then after a month or so, she would "go full on maniac getting my body back together."

The reality TV star is also mother to her 4-year-old daughter Marley Rae, who she had with her ex, Kevin McCall. Marcille told E! News in January how her daughter was feeling about getting another sibling. "I have a little girl now and I asked her, when I found out I was pregnant, 'Would you like a little brother or sister?' And she said, 'You know what mom? I would like a baby brother.' I didn't expect her to choose but she had an opinion! So she's super excited."

The model has shared a number of photos on Instagram of her two children smiling together either while cuddling or out and about.

The Real Housewives is known to have quite a real amount of drama, but Marcille tries to stay away from it. She told E! News how she manages to tune out the trivial matters. "Life is a lot of drama. I don't have a take because I don't invest in it. It can be very nasty. I don't major in the minor," she said. "I have a lot more on my plate than to worry about people's perceptions of each other. It's so trivial to me."

Mitchell is a federal prosecutor and ran for mayor of Atlanta in 2017, but dropped out of the race.

Congrats on the wedding, Eva and Michael!
