{blackbabes} Beyonce and Jay-Z Apparently Name Twins Rumi and Sir Carter

Beyonce and Jay-Z's twins' names are a mystery no more -- at least it appears that way.

It seems Rumi and Sir Carter are the new additions to the family. We know that because the company run by Bey and Jay that owns the trademarks to their names filed legal docs Monday, June 26 -- right around the time the twins went home -- to secure rights to the names Rumi Carter and Sir Carter.

The docs are filed by the same company that filed for a Blue Ivy trademark earlier this year.

The name Rumi appears to be an homage to a 13th century Persian poet by that name -- and Sir happens to be referenced in one of his most famous poems:

"Bring the pure wine of
love and freedom.
But sir, a tornado is coming.
More wine, we'll teach this storm
A thing or two about whirling."

The trademarks are for fragrances, cosmetics, key chains, baby teething rings, strollers, mugs, water bottles, hair ribbons, playing cards, tote bags, sports balls, rattles and novelty items.

Short story ... Rumi and Sir are about to become part of the Carter empire.

Welcome.

{blackbabes} Venus Williams sued by family of man who died after Florida crash

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Reuters) - Venus Williams was sued on Friday by the family of a Florida man who died after being involved in a two-vehicle crash that police say was the fault of the world's former top-ranked tennis player.

A civil complaint filed Friday, days before the revered Wimbledon tournament, claims that Williams was negligent in the June 9 crash near her Florida residence in Palm Beach Gardens. A passenger in a small sedan that collided with Williams' larger SUV, Jerome Barson, 78, died June 22, according to the suit and, separately, the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's office.

While Williams was not given a citation by police for the crash, she was found at fault for failing to yield the right of way, according to a police report filed by the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department.

The Barson's lawsuit for wrongful death comes just days before Williams is scheduled to begin play at tennis' most prestigious event, Wimbledon, and casts a cloud over her involvement in the tournament, where she is slated to play on Monday against Belgian Elise Mertens.

Williams, 37, has won the tournament five times, although her last title there came in 2008.

The suit says Barson died as a result of his injuries in the crash. The suit says those injuries included "severed main arteries, massive internal bleeding, a fractured spine and massive internal organ damage."

The suit alleges that Williams was "driving carelessly and recklessly" and that led to the collision of the Toyota Sequoia she was driving and the Barson's Hyundai Accent.

Malcolm Cunningham, attorney for Williams, said by telephone on Friday, "We think it's an unfortunate accident."

Cunningham on Thursday and Friday told Reuters that Williams, "expresses her deepest condolences" to the Barson family, but offered no comment on the lawsuit.

"The point is," Cunningham said Friday, "that Ms. Williams entered into that intersection on a green light. She was there lawfully."

Williams told police she drove into an intersection on a green light, but stopped at the intersection to wait for cross-traffic to clear, then proceeded without seeing Barson's car coming from the side.

The police report estimated Williams was traveling at about 5 miles per hour (8 kph) at the time of impact and was not distracted or suspected of any drug or alcohol use.

Jerome Barson's wife of 33 years, Linda Barson, who was driving the sedan, survived but, the suit says, sustained multiple injuries.

{blackbabes} Publicist: Venus will play at Wimbledon

LONDON — Venus Williams' publicist says the five-time Wimbledon champion will play at the Grand Slam tournament after a police report emerged in Florida saying the tennis star caused a car crash that led to the death of a passenger in another vehicle.

Stephanie Jones confirmed in an email to The Associated Press on Friday that Williams is in London, where the year's third major tennis tournament begins Monday.

Williams is seeded 10th at what will be her 20th Wimbledon. She won the title in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2008, and is the only past champion in the men's or women's fields who is not scheduled to appear at a pre-tournament news conference on Saturday or Sunday.

In Friday's draw at the All England Club, the 37-year-old American was set up to play Elise Mertens of Belgium in the first round.

Police in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, say witnesses told investigators that Williams ran a red light in her 2010 Toyota Sequoia SUV on June 9, causing a crash that injured 78-year-old Jerome Barson, who died two weeks later.

Williams, who had lost in the fourth round of the French Open in Paris on June 4, told investigators she had entered the six-lane intersection on a green light but had been forced to stop midpoint by traffic ahead of her. She said she did not see the Barsons' car when she crossed into their lanes.

Palm Beach Gardens Maj. Paul Rogers said the crash remains under investigation. Williams, who has a residence in Palm Beach Gardens, has not been cited or charged. The police report , released to the AP on Thursday, said Williams was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The report says a 2016 Hyundai Accent driven by Barson's wife, Linda, crashed into the side of Williams' SUV. Linda Barson told investigators that she was approaching the intersection when her light turned green and that she was unable to stop in time. Linda Barson suffered unspecified moderate injuries. Williams was not hurt.

An attorney for Williams, Malcolm Cunningham, said in a statement on Thursday that Williams expressed "her deepest condolences to the family who lost a loved one."

Williams is a former No. 1-ranked player who owns a total of seven Grand Slam singles championships, including two at the U.S. Open in 2000 and 2001, along with 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, all won with her younger sister, Serena.

Since revealing in 2011 that she had been diagnosed with Sjongren's syndrome, which can cause joint pain and fatigue, Williams had a half-dozen losses in the first round at major tournaments, raising questions about whether she might consider retirement.

But a year ago at Wimbledon, at age 36, Venus Williams became the oldest woman in the semifinals at a major since 1994.

She continued her resurgence at the Australian Open this January, making it all the way to the final before losing to Serena, who earned her 23rd Grand Slam singles trophy.

{blackbabes} Venus Williams Blamed In Fatal Car Crash That Killed 78-Year-Old Man

1:40 PM PT -- Venus is now breaking her silence  ... calling the incident an "unfortunate accident" and insisting she explain what happened from her point of view.

"Ms. Williams entered the intersection on a green light," her attorney Malcolm Cunningham said.

"The police report estimates that Ms. Williams was traveling at 5 mph when Mrs. Barson crashed into her. Authorities did not issue Ms. Williams with any citations or traffic violations."

"This is an unfortunate accident and Venus expresses her deepest condolences to the family who lost a loved one."

Venus Williams caused a car accident that sent a 78-year-old man to an ICU unit where he died 14 days later ... according to a police report obtained by TMZ Sports.

The driver of the other car -- the wife of the victim -- told cops she was approaching an intersection westbound in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on June 9 when Venus' northbound SUV suddenly darted into the intersection. The other driver says there was no time to stop and she T-boned Venus' vehicle.

Venus told cops she was trying to make it through the intersection but there was a traffic backup and she had to slow down to a crawl, with her car exposed in the intersection.

The driver's husband, Jerome Barson, suffered head trauma and was taken to a hospital and placed in ICU. He never recovered and died 2 weeks later. Barson's wife was also taken to the hospital with broken bones and other injuries, but survived ... according to her attorney Michael Steinger.

Cops say Venus caused the accident. According to the police report, "[Venus] is at fault for violating the right of way of [the other driver]."

Police say in the report there was no evidence Venus was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They also say there's no evidence she was distracted by an electronic device.

We reached out to Williams for comment -- so far, no word back.

{blackbabes} Serena Williams took six tests to confirm pregnancy

https://nyppagesix.files.wordpress.com/2017/06/serena-williams-08-17-cover.jpg?quality=90&strip=all&w=449

Despite the vomiting and enlarged breasts, Serena Williams was certain she wasn't pregnant. It was only at the urging of pal Jessica Steindorff that the tennis ace agreed to take a pregnancy test in early January — mainly to shut her friend up.

"I'll take it just because (a) to prove you wrong and (b) because it's fun, whatever," Williams, 35, explained in the August issue of Vanity Fair. "It's like a joke. Why not?"

With plans to conquer the Australian Open and Wimbledon later in the year, a pregnancy wasn't in Williams' plans. After taking a test as she readied for an event, Williams couldn't escape the inevitable results.

"I put it down. I went back to finishing hair and makeup, was laughing, talking," she recalled. "I was getting the styling done. An hour and a half later, I went back to the bathroom and I totally forgot about it because it was impossible for me … So I went back to get dressed and I went back in the bathroom and I was like, 'Oh yeah, that test.'"

Williams admitted doing a double-take upon seeing the positive mark on the stick.

"My heart dropped. Like literally it dropped," she said.

While Steindorff relished the results, it took a trip to the hotel pharmacy and five additional pregnancy tests to convince Williams she was expecting.

Williams' next step was to tell her fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, the exciting news. A month removed from their engagement, Williams presented her future husband with a paper bag with six positive pregnancy tests.

Though Williams kept the pregnancy relatively under wraps following her Australian Open victory, she accidentally revealed her baby bump in April via Snapchat. And while she will miss the remainder of the 2017 season, Williams looks forward to hitting the court with her new fan in the stands next year.

"If you would have told me last year in October or November that I would have a baby, not be pregnant but have a baby, I would have thought you were the biggest liar in the world. This is kind of how I am right now," she said. "This is happening sooner than later, and it's going by so fast."

Williams and Ohanian, 34, are expected to wed this fall after they welcome their first child.

' data-reactid="14">Williams posed naked on the cover of the magazine with one hand across her chest and the other on her hips, supporting her back and stomach. The article accompanying the cover photo, labeled a "must read" by Williams herself, reveals insights into Williams' pregnancy, her engagement and her tennis future.

Alexis Ohanian and describes how she fell in love with the internet whiz and how he discovered an interest in the sport of tennis through his then-girlfriend. ' data-reactid="15">The Vanity Fair long-form piece walks readers through Williams' relationship with Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian and describes how she fell in love with the internet whiz and how he discovered an interest in the sport of tennis through his then-girlfriend.

As the article details, Ohanian and Williams met at a breakfast buffet in Rome two years ago, and the tennis star passed her number along to Ohanian because she said she could use help on her personal website. Ohanian told Williams that he was speaking at a tech conference in Italy, but his Instagram posts from the weekend show that he also spent some time watching tennis.

In January, after six positive pregnancy tests, Williams told Ohanian that they would be having a child. The doctors told her at the time that they suspected she was three or four weeks pregnant and safe to play. Williams followed their advice, won the Australian Open, only to find out later that she was actually eight weeks pregnant at the time. When the tennis star accidentally announced her pregnancy on Snapchat, the posting date and caption, "20 weeks," revealed that she had been pregnant during the Australian Open. Williams has said that she is taking the rest of the 2017 tennis season off due to the pregnancy, but she plans to return afterwards because her "story is over yet."

She is due in the fall but has not revealed the sex of her baby.

{blackbabes} Serena Williams says 'heart dropped' at surprise pregnancy

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Serena Williams was completely taken aback by her pregnancy, taking six home tests before believing she was expecting her first child, the tennis superstar told Vanity Fair magazine.

Williams, who poses nude on the cover of the magazine for its August issue, said she still had not come to terms with the prospect of being a mother, and said she plans to be back on court in January.

"It just doesn't seem real. I don't know why. Am I having a baby?" Williams, 35, said in the interview released on Tuesday.

The No. 1 ranked tennis player, interviewed in May when she was six months pregnant, said she had made no preparations.

"I don't know what to do with a baby... I've done absolutely nothing for the baby room," she said.

Williams, who is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, confirmed in April that she was expecting a baby in the fall after posting on Snapchat, and then deleting, a picture of herself in a swimsuit with the caption "20 weeks."

She said she would take maternity leave through the remainder of 2017.

Williams told Vanity Fair she found out she was pregnant about a week before winning her record 23rd Grand Slam tournament singles title at the Australian Open in January.

She said she had felt off her game but thought her hormones were acting up. A friend suggested she take a pregnancy test and when it came back positive she "did a double take and my heart dropped. Like literally, it dropped."

She took five more home tests and later presented all six to Ohanian, who was as shocked as she was. She said her fiance now was earnestly preparing and already has a tip jar he puts money into whenever he uses profanity so he will not utter it around the baby.

Williams gave no dates but said she expects to return to the circuit as soon as January, adding "I don't think my story is over yet."

{blackbabes} Serena Williams responds to John McEnroe comments

Serena Williams has no interest in John McEnroe's thoughts on what would happen if she tried to play on the men's tennis tour.

Williams responded Monday via Twitter to comments McEnroe made during a weekend interview with NPR to promote his latest book.

Williams tells McEnroe, "I adore and respect you," but asks him to "please please keep me out of your statements that are not factually based."

McEnroe, a former player and now TV commentator, said Williams is the best women's tennis player in history — "no question." But when asked whether she was the sport's best ever, regardless of gender, he made clear he didn't think so.

He said he thought Williams could beat some men, "but if she had to just play the circuit — the men's circuit — that would be an entirely different story." He said if she tried to be part of the men's tour, "she'd be like 700 in the world."

In one of her tweets, Williams wrote : "I've never played anyone ranked 'there' nor do I have time."

She added: "Respect me and my privacy as I'm trying to have a baby. Good day sir."

Williams is taking a break from the tennis tour because she is pregnant. She plans to return to competition in 2018.

The American has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, a record in the Open era, which began in 1968.

McEnroe won seven major titles.

{blackbabes} Pregnant Serena Williams Reveals the Greatest Advice Her Mom Shared About Being a Parent

Serena Williams, baby bump, Instagram

Serena Williams is ready to learn from the best when it comes to parenting.

As the world-famous athlete prepares to welcome her first child later this year with Alexis Ohanian, Serena is sharing some of the valuable lessons she learned about motherhood from her own parents.

"It's interesting because my mom has always been so strong for me and she's been the woman that has just literally been unbreakable. Someone that I always look up to and all my sisters looked up to. So in the midst of having a child, it's like all of the sudden you start thinking about the lessons your parents taught you, especially my mom," Serena shared during her Keynote Speech at the BlogHer Conference. "And you start thinking about, 'Wow, what do I want to raise my kid as?' And when you're young and you're growing up you think your parents may be strict. Then you realize when you're older and you're like, could they have been a little stricter? Or should I have done this more?"

She continued, "It's like this is what I want my son or daughter to look like and this is what I want my son or daughter to do. And so I feel like all those lessons [my mom] taught me about being so strong, of proud of who I am, of being able to look anyone in the face and have confidence and speak with so much confidence is something that I really have been able to embrace and would love to teach my kid that."

Back in April, Serena accidentally revealed that she was expanding her family on social media. She has yet to reveal the sex of the baby to her fans and followers.

And while the tennis champion may be planning a wedding and a baby's arrival, she's already thinking about the future and envisioning a safe world for her son or daughter.

While speaking with moderator and President of SheKnowMedia Samantha Skey at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, Serena revealed the change she wants to see in the world that will benefit her offspring.

"Seeing women represented more and higher. Not only nationally but internationally because I travel international, and I have sat with the heads of so many people and there is usually not a single woman or a person of color in there. So I think that's something that really can be addressed on a global scale," Serena explained. "And also, just sticking up for one another. In particular, women."

She continued, "I feel like women do stick up for one another and do not get enough credit… I play with only women and I go to the locker room and I see a lot of camaraderie. We all hang out and it's like one big family and so I feel like spreading it to the next generation that it's ok to love, and ok to be really friendly and ok to be competitive at the same time, it's really something that I would love to see a little bit more of as well."

{blackbabes} ‘One Day At A Time’ Casts Ed Quinn; ‘Heathers’ Adds Birgundi Baker & Cameron Gellman

Ed Quinn (2 Broke Girls) is set for a recurring role on Season 2 of One Day At A Time, Netflix's reimagining of Norman Lear's classic. The new version is about a Cuban-American family and centers on a recently separated, former military mom (Justina Machado) who is navigating a new single life while raising her radical teenage daughter and socially adept tween son. She's "helped" by her old school Cuban-born mom (Rita Moreno) and a friends-without-benefits building manager named Schneider. Quinn will play an EMT who served with Penelope (Machado) in Kabul.  They run into each other at the hospital, and sparks fly. Eureka alum Quinn most recently recurred on 2 Broke Girls and Mistresses. He's repped by Don Buchwald & Associates and Stone, Meyer, Genow, Smelkinson, Binder.

Birgundi Baker (Empire) and Cameron Gellman (20th Century Women) have signed on for recurring roles in Heathers, based on the 1988 cult classic film set for premiere on Paramount Network in 2018. Heathers is a pitch-black comedy anthology set in the present day, as our heroine Veronica Sawyer (Grace Victoria Cox) deals with a very different but equally vicious group of Heathers. Baker will portray Lizzy, a new kid from the foster care system eager to learn the ways from Heather Chandler. Gellman will play Kurt, a high school jock. Baker recently recurred as Teen Carol in Fox's Empire. Other recent credits include NBC's Chicago PD and she'll be seen in the upcoming Showtime series The Chi. She's repped by Gray Talent Group. Gellman's credits include the series regular role of Kyle in last season's TNT pilot Let The Right One In. He's repped by Smith & Hervey/Grimes Talent Agency & Elevate Entertainment.

{blackbabes} Halle Berry: Don’t complain unless you plan to change things

CANNES — Halle Berry has blasted those in Hollywood who complain about issues and the effectiveness of movements like Black Lives Matter, but then do nothing to create change.

The Oscar-winning actress said, "In my world, I get so tired of people complaining about, 'Oh black lives matter,' and they pontificate and pontificate about it, and I say, 'Well, what are you doing about that? It may not seem significant to you, but that's how we start. Have you called your local politicians, have you written a letter?'"

Appearing at the Cannes Lions Girls' Lounge in conversation with founder Shelley Zalis, Berry continued, "When they say they've done nothing, I say, 'Well, don't talk to me … because you are part of the problem, because you are sitting here spewing negativity and complaining.'"

She added, "I don't have time for people who talk the talk but don't walk the walk."

Berry has been taking meetings at Cannes Lions with top tech firms and marketers as she prepares to relaunch her website and social forum titled Hallewood.

The actress was spotted meeting with Snapchat executives Wednesday to discuss Hallewood, which launches next month, and on which she plans to post stories and videos, connect directly with her fans, and start a discussion on a wide variety of topics.

{blackbabes} Rhonda Ross performs in Orlando with mother Diana

http://www.trbimg.com/img-594bfae9/turbine/os-1498151651-f6hojob29m-snap-image/1050/1050x591

The title of Rhonda Ross' album "In Case You Didn't Know" has a double meaning. The name refers to a song on the 2016 record about the hidden miracles that surround people. But it also refers to the singer herself, "the best kept secret of the Ross family," she laughs.

Ross is the daughter of superstar Diana Ross and Motown founder Berry Gordy. This summer, the Los Angeles native is touring with her mother on a circuit that is bringing the two vocalists to Orlando's Dr. Phillips Center on Tuesday, June 27. (Tickets start at $49.50. Details: drphillipscenter.org.)

At 45, Rhonda Ross has flown largely under the radar. "People say, 'Wow, you've been a professional for a long time; I've never heard of you,'" she says. "But that's because I chose to go a different route than a lot of the record companies and producers would have liked in those early years.

"I decided to walk my own path and that's the path of a songwriter," she says.

Last year was the first time Ross toured with her mother. "I do 20 minutes ahead of her and it's my 20 minutes," she says. Traveling with Diana, the powerhouse singer behind "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "I'm Coming Out," Rhonda Ross says she has seen a different side of the woman who raised her. "I've been watching my mother from the wings all of my life, but it's got a different spin now that I'm in one dressing room and she's in the other. I have a whole new respect for what she does and how she's been doing it for over 50 years."

One of the things Rhonda Ross admires about her mom is the way she treats her band when they're on the road. "Her band and her crew is her family," says Rhonda Ross. "You really see that."

Diana Ross also taught her daughter how to take it slow. "She takes care of herself," Rhonda Ross says. "She makes sure she gets her rest."

"Sometimes," says Rhonda Ross, "as a busy, working mother and wife still building my career, I have a tendency to push myself all the way to the limit. So that was a good lesson."

Stories of family tension in celebrity households are fairly common, but Rhonda Ross says that isn't the case with her mother or siblings, which include actors Tracee Ellis Ross and Evan Ross. "One way in which we're atypical is that we really get along," says Rhonda, the eldest.

Born Rhonda Suzanne Silberstein, Ross says her mother always found time for her children. "She has really figured out a way to, in the midst of her stardom … to still give us good fundamentals and good values and a love for each other," she says.

Rhonda Ross, who starred on the soap opera "Another World" in the '90s, doesn't want to reach her mother's level of visibility. "There is a level of fame I don't want," she says. "I don't mind being recognized, but it would be a loss for me if I couldn't walk with the people."
