{blackbabes} How Naomie Harris prepared to play a drug-addicted mom

Naomie Harris — who stars as Moneypenny in the James Bond franchise — told Page Six she spent just three days filming her part in the acclaimed indie "Moonlight," but, "I spent a month researching."

"To find [the character] was a real process," Harris said of portraying a drug-addicted mom. "I would scream and bang on the walls in my hotel room to find her craziness."

The film just won best ensemble at the Gotham Awards.

"For me it was, 'How do I remove all judgment about her addiction?' " Harris said.

{blackbabes} Days of Our Lives casts T-Boz as a prisoner

The woman who helped to make "No Scrubs" famous is heading to TV.

Tionne Watkins, otherwise known as T-Boz from TLC, will guest star on NBC's Days of Our Lives over the next two months as a hardened, no-good prison inmate, EW has learned exclusively. She'll play Sheila, the pokey's top dog who vows to make Hope's stay behind bars a memorable one.

Hope, played by Kristian Alfonso, is currently in prison for the murder of Stefano DiMera.

T-Boz's first episode airs Nov. 30 — the same time DOOL star Deidre Hall will reprise her role as Hattie, the bawdy Marlena-lookalike who's in the slammer for embezzlement. Glee's Dot-Marie Jones will also show up behind bars as Chille.

T-Boz will continue on the sudser through January. This marks her first daytime soap appearance.

Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC.

{blackbabes} Taraji P. Henson says Cookie ruined her personal life

Taraji P. Henson's life hasn't been the same since Cookie.

The "Empire" actress discussed how the character has wrecked her personal life in a one-on-one interview with Ryan Reynolds as part of Variety's "Actors on Actors."

"You're walking down the street and they're just like, 'Hey Cookie' — maybe I didn't want the world to see how I looked today, maybe I wore these sweats yesterday," Henson said. "It was fine until Cookie came, I was okay under the radar, I could go to Target. I never saw that coming. I go from this normal life to having to find a house on a private gated road, it's crazy."

Henson, who also stars in the upcoming movie "Hidden Figures," said she has tried disguising herself using wigs and sunglasses, but nothing has stopped the Cookie-crazy fans from finding her.

In the interview, she also talked with Reynolds about the impact of social media on their lives and how it has changed the way their films are marketed.

"I've only had it (social media) a year and a half and I applied it specifically for 'Deadpool,' because as soon as as 'Deadpool' was greenlit, I got Twitter, I got Instagram, I got Facebook," Reynolds said. "The social media game for 'Deadpool' was such a huge part of the marketing, I mean a lot of the stuff we shot, marketing materials, were just on my iPhone, just dicking around at my house or on set."

Reynolds added that the reach of social media helped create a huge groundswell of excitement for the film before it even came out.

"We would do billboards that were just ridiculous, but we only do one of them. You put that image on Twitter or Instagram or Facebook, and it's as though that billboard was in every city in America."

See the "Actors on Actors" premiere on Jan. 3, 2017 at 7 p.m. PT on PBS SoCal KOCE, presented by The Venetian Las Vegas. Click here to watch the full interview.

{blackbabes} Mariah Carey only eats two things

Mariah Carey won't be overeating this holiday season.

The superstar sticks to a very strict diet that involves just two ingredients.

"It's really hard. My diet, you would hate it," Carey, 46, sulked to E! News. "All you eat is Norwegian salmon and capers every day. That's it."

The mom of two has been on the road touring in recent months, as well as filming her new E! docu-series "Mariah's World." No matter the occasion, Carey's ensembles always turn heads.

She'll be showing off her fit frame in a slew of Christmas concerts in New York City in December and then again for a gang of dates in 2017 for her Las Vegas residency.

"I'm actually serious," she said of her strict eating habits. "I try to stick with the proteins. It's the worst."

{blackbabes} Serena Williams pens powerful letter urging women "to dream big"

Serena Williams

To all incredible women who strive for excellence,

When I was growing up, I had a dream. I'm sure you did, too. My dream wasn't like that of an average kid, my dream was to be the best tennis player in the world. Not the best "female" tennis player in the world.

I was fortunate to have a family that supported my dream and encouraged me to follow it. I learned not to be afraid. I learned how important it is to fight for a dream and, most importantly, to dream big. My fight began when I was three and I haven't taken a break since.

But as we know, too often women are not supported enough or are discouraged from choosing their path. I hope together we can change that. For me, it was a question of resilience. What others marked as flaws or disadvantages about myself – my race, my gender – I embraced as fuel for my success. I never let anything or anyone define me or my potential. I controlled my future.

So when the subject of equal pay comes up, it frustrates me because I know firsthand that I, like you, have done the same work and made the same sacrifices as our male counterparts. I would never want my daughter to be paid less than my son for the same work. Nor would you.

As we know, women have to break down many barriers on the road to success. One of those barriers is the way we are constantly reminded we are not men, as if it is a flaw. People call me one of the "world's greatest female athletes". Do they say LeBron is one of the world's best male athletes? Is Tiger? Federer? Why not? They are certainly not female. We should never let this go unchallenged. We should always be judged by our achievements, not by our gender.

For everything I've achieved in my life, I am profoundly grateful to have experienced the highs and lows that come with success. It is my hope that my story, and yours, will inspire all young women out there to push for greatness and follow their dreams with steadfast resilience. We must continue to dream big, and in doing so, we empower the next generation of women to be just as bold in their pursuits.

{blackbabes} Beaches: Idina Menzel and Nia Long Will Make You Cry in First Lifetime Trailer

Ebates.ca - Amazon.com - Amazon.ca - Wal-Mart - GameStop - Match.com - Work From Home

Video: https://youtu.be/NuKOIHqPuWM

Newsflash: Idina Menzel singing "Wind Beneath My Wings" is no less affecting than when Bette Midler does it.

So as you watch this first trailer for Lifetime's upcoming remake of the 1988 movie Beaches, which opens with Menzel crooning the famous tune, you're already prepped for major welling.

Menzel (Glee) stars as CC opposite Nia Long (Third Watch)'s Hillary in the weepy drama, which follows two best friends who stay close throughout their entire lives. (The roles were played by Midler and Barbara Hershey, respectively, in the original. And in case you were wondering, Midler has given the project her blessing.)

The video, released Monday, previews the movie's major emotional beats. We see Hillary and CC hanging out as children, CC achieving fame, Hillary resenting her friend's success, both women celebrating the birth of Hillary's daughter, and then the really sad stuff: Hillary falling ill and… well, if you aren't familiar with how the story ends, we're not going to spoil you.

Beaches will air Saturday, Jan. 21, at 8/7c.

{blackbabes} Keshia Knight Pulliam’s unborn child gives her strength

Keshia Knight Pulliam is thankful for her unborn child.

Following a year filled with personal turmoil — including a very public and nasty split from Ed Hartwell — the former "Cosby Show" star penned an emotional note to daughter Ella Grace on Thanksgiving.

Calling this the "single most challenging year of my life," she wrote, "Thru it all this little face has kept me going & helped me tap into strength I didn't even know I possess."

"I am so eternally grateful for my little Ella," she wrote. "I would not trade any of what I have gone thru for her … She has inspired my smile even thru the tears."

Pulliam, 37, was blindsided when Hartwell filed for divorce in July, just six months after they walked down the aisle. Hartwell, 38, has claimed the actress has used their separation to drive media attention and that he doesn't owe her any money.

Pulliam is due in January.

{blackbabes} Rashida Jones on being attacked by Michael Jackson’s pet chimp

Maybe Michael Jackson's pet chimpanzee should have been named Nibbles.

On Tuesday's episode of the "Desus & Mero," Rashida Jones revealed that the animal bit her when she was a child.

"I got attacked. By Bubbles. Bubbles. Michael Jackson…" the 40-year-old, whose father Quincy produced some of Jackson's most famous work, told the hosts after she was asked if she'd ever been bitten by a monkey.

The actress-turned-writer/director showed off the scar on her hand that remains to this day, before describing what the well-dressed pet was wearing – overalls and a striped shirt.

"He also looked me dead in my eye. While he was biting me," she said. "I was trying to punish him because he threw something at me. And I, like, hit him on the head and said, 'No!' because I had seen Michael trying to punish him before. And he just grabbed my hand and looked me dead in the eye."

It wasn't a soft bite either according to the "Angie Tribeca" star, who said it bled and bled.

Jackson bought Bubbles during the mid 80s and the chimpanzee would accompany him for much of the next two decades. In 2003, having matured into an adult, the animal was sent to an animal trainer. Bubbles currently lives in a sanctuary in Wauchula, Fla., where he moved in 2005.

{blackbabes} Serena Williams Loves Dancing as a Workout During Her Off-Season: ‘I Really Enjoy That’

When Serena Williams gets a rare break from the punishing tennis season, she has little interest in working out. But when she has to get in some cardio, her favorite thing is a dance workout.

"I dance a lot, when I'm healthy," Williams tells PEOPLE, after unveiling a refurbished tennis court in Compton, California, with sister Venus, with funding help from Gatorade. "It's a fun way to get a workout in instead of going to the gym and jumping on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I really enjoy that."

The 22-time Grand Slam winner says she tries to stay moving during her short vacation from tennis.

"Especially for me, it's important to stay fit in the off-season," Williams says. "I usually just do a half hour of cardio and that's good."

After a tough year in which she won Wimbledon to tie Steffi Graf for the second-most Grand Slam titles ever, but lost early during the Olympics and the U.S. Open, Williams is relishing getting extra time off this year.

"This season in particular I had a lot of time off, and I've got to tell you, I really needed it," she says. "I really kind of needed it this last year but I couldn't take that time. It's a grind, it's 10 to 11 months of non-stop working."

Along with her busy tennis schedule, Williams also designs a full fashion line, and often shares her wares on Instagram.

She also uses the platform to express her own body positivity, something Williams hopes younger girls see as an inspiration.

"It's who I am, and I want people to be proud of who they are," she says. "Too many times young women are told that they're not good enough or they don't look good enough, or they shouldn't do this, or they shouldn't look like that. Really there's no one who should judge that except for you, and in general that's the message that I want people to see."

And Williams hopes that she and Venus will be able to inspire more young kids with the new tennis court.

"We grew up in Compton, and we wanted to try to give back to the community in a way that we knew how, and in a way that will really impact the youth there," she says. "Honestly, to do this has been really great and shaped my life in ways that I never would have felt. Not everybody has an opportunity to play sports, tennis in particular, and maybe it can shape their lives too."

{blackbabes} Mariah Carey: James Packer split happened for a reason

Mariah Carey is much more comfortable chatting about her diamonds than her dating life.

When Ellen DeGeneres asked Carey, 46, about her bitter breakup with fiancé James Packer, the singer said, "Now it's a whole friggin' thing … I think I'm doing well … Everything happens for a reason. Things are the way they are."

DeGeneres, 58, pressed Carey on whether Packer, 49, requested to be left out of her reality series, "Mariah's World."

"Allegedly," Carey sighed. "It's kind of difficult to talk about it at the moment. So I'm just going to compliment you on these decorations once again because they are fabulous, and I am here, among them."

The festive chanteuse was more forthcoming about her now-infamous Instagram snap of herself drenched in diamonds in a bathtub.

"It was 4 in the morning and I decided to take a bath, and then I was bombarded by somebody, I'm not going to say who it was," she said. "And by the way, I'm wearing a bodysuit under that — nobody can see. They think I'm nude, but I'm not."

As for the diamonds?

"They're not going to fall off … do you really want to take them off? These are hard to take off," she lamented. "It takes so long, and I'd already ran the water."

Uncle Buck alumna Nia Long has booked a recurring role on the current third season of Fox's hit hip-hop drama series Empire, co-created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong.

Long will play Giuliana (Giusi), a queenpin who runs a club in Las Vegas and makes brash moves in the gangster underworld of New York to secure a deal with Empire. Sleek, sexy, and cold-blooded, she rubs elbows with Lucious (Terrence Howard) and goes toe-to-toe with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) even as she reckons with her own mysterious past.

Long, who starred as Alexis on ABC's Uncle Buck, most recently appeared in feature Keanu and was cast in a recurring role in Netflix's Dear White People. She's repped by CAA, Primary Wave and Meyer & Downs.

She joins other notable guest stars/recurring players on the current Season 3 of Empire including recently announced Rumer Willis, Mariah Carey, Taye Diggs, Birdman and French Montana.

{blackbabes} Spirit Awards Nominations: ‘Moonlight’, ‘American Honey’, ‘Manchester’ & ‘Jackie’ Rally

A24 looks to have led the 2017 Film Independent Spirit Nominations with as many as 18 noms split up between American Honey, Moonlight, 20th Century Women, Swiss Army Man and The Witch. Among those films leading with noms, Moonlight counts six (including a Robert Altman award), American Honey also six, Amazon's Manchester By The Sea boasts five with Fox Searchlight's Jackie counting four.

This year's nominations for the best films with budgets under $20 million included the marquee Best Feature category, which featured American Honey, Moonlight, Manchester By The Sea, Jackie and Wild Bunch's Chronic starring Tim Roth, who also received a Best Male Lead nom for the France-Mexico drama.

Also on the Best Male lead list: Manchester By The Sea's Casey Affleck, David Harewood for multiple nominee Free In Deed, Viggo Mortensen for Captain Fantastic and Jesse Plemons
for Other People. Plemons' co-star Molly Shannon earned a Supporting nom.

For Best Female Lead: Annette Bening for 20th Century Women, Isabelle Huppert for Elle, Sasha Lane for American Honey, Ruth Negga for Loving and Natalie Portman for Jackie.

Moonlight has been gaining awards momentum, with A24 carefully creating buzz among upscale audiences. It has a current domestic box office take of $6.6 million in its fifth weekend, 300% ahead of last year's Room at the same point in time. The pic was overlooked in the acting categories today despite sublime turns by Naomie Harris, Alex R. Hibbert and Ashton Sanders.

Unlike the last two years, this morning's ceremony at the W Hotel in Hollywood hosted by Jenny Slate and Edgar Ramirez wasn't upset by an accidental leaking of the nominees, which was the case over the last two years. Bravo, Film Independent.

Over the last three years the Spirit Awards have been a hot streak, matching Oscar's Best Picture win with this year's Spotlight, 2015's Birdman and 2014's 12 Years A Slave. Beacuse of the budget threshold, this awards season's most buzzed-about title, Damien Chazelle's La La Land, has to sit out. On Focus Features' side, the only contender eligible out of their live-action trio of Nocturnal Animals, A Monster Calls and Loving, is the latter directed by Jeff Nichols. He landed a Best Director nom alongside American Honey's Andrea Arnold, Moonlight's Barry Jenkins, Jackie's Pablo Larraín and Certain Women's Kelly Reichardt.

Essentially, the Oscars mirroring the Spirit Awards is a testament to the Academy's continued embrace of independent and lower-budget fare. Among above-the-line wins, Oscars and Indie Spirits synced up this year with Best Picture and Screenplay for Tom McCarthy's Spotlight and a best actress win for Brie Larson in Room.

The 32nd annual kudo ceremony takes place the day before the Oscars on February 25, live on IFC at 2 PM PT.

Here's the complete list of noms:

{blackbabes} 5 Things We Learned From The Hollywood Reporter's 2016 Actress Roundtable

The Hollywood Reporter 2016 Actress Roundtable

It's a rare moment when you get to hear an Oscar nominee candidly discuss her hopes and fears. It seems all the more rare when there are four of them sitting at a round table together.

For The Hollywood Reporter, it's become an annual tradition to gather up Hollywood's most revered A-list female stars and seat them together for an honest and insightful chat about the state of the industry, their buzz-worthy new roles, how they went about tackling them and the lasting effects of such experiences.

This year, the magazine's crop of actresses included La La Land's Emma Stone, Hidden Figures's Taraji P. Henson, Arrival's Amy Adams, Jackie's Natalie Portman, Moonlight's Naomie Harris, 20th Century Women's Annette Bening and Elle's Isabelle Huppert. Diverse in age, genre, race and ethnicity, the women offered refreshing insight into the complexities and demands they faced on the job this year.

Here are a few things we learned in their excerpted conversation:

Arrival, Amy Adams

1. Amy Adams Doesn't Want to Be Thrown Under the Bus for the Wage Gap Conversation

A hot topic in Tinseltown as of late has been the question of what women get paid compared to their male counterparts. While some actresses have been vocal on the subject, others have felt less inclined to publicly weigh in because they feel the questions are misplaced. Adams is among the latter.

"Who you should be asking is the Producer Roundtable. 'Do you think minorities are underrepresented? Do you think women are underpaid?'" she told The Hollywood Reporter. "We are always put on the chopping block to put our opinion out there, and that question is never asked. I'm like, 'Why don't you ask them and then have their statements be the headlines in the press?' I don't want to be a headline anymore about pay equality."

2. Amy Adams Struggled With Paralyzing Stage Fright

She is a five-time Oscar nominee, but even the Arrival actress has had such a battle with butterflies that she almost couldn't perform at all. "I didn't realize how bad it was until I was doing Into the Woods in Central Park, and there would be times where I literally thought I wouldn't be able to walk onstage," she recalled during the conversation.

"The worst stage fright I ever had was singing alone at the Oscars [a song from Enchanted in 2008]."

Naomi Harris, Moonlight

3. Naomie Harris Used YouTube to Prep for Her Role as a Drug Addict

For her upcoming performance in Moonlight, the British star had to portray a mother addicted to crack. To prep for the task, she turned to a very simple resource.

"YouTube. It's my first time discovering any of this, but it's an incredible mine of information. You have people with their camera phones who go down into crack dens and record interviews with people — information that you would never be able to get from any other source," she explained.

Isabelle Huppert, Elle

4. Isabelle Huppert Used a Coach to Prep for a Rape Scene

In Belle, Huppert's character is raped. To prepare, the French star sought the help of a coach to rehearse the physical requirements of such a scene.

"A coach to fall down and to get hit and things like this," she clarified. "But we all know those scenes might be more difficult to watch for the spectator than to do for the actor."

La La Land, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone

5. Actresses Have Surprisingly Common Goals

While they may be world-renowned stars, their list of goals sound surprisingly aligned with most people. For Adams, it's to get a degree in possibly sociology or psychology. For Harris, it's to become a mother. For Bening, it's scuba diving. For Stone, it's to have a family.

"It's such a crazy, incredible thing," the actress said. "How wild to have children and a family, it's just...very much."

Tune in to the full roundtable when it airs on SundanceTV on Jan. 29, 2017.

{blackbabes} Serena Williams gets a tour of the new African American Museum

Hey isn't that . . . Twenty-two time grand slam tennis champion Serena Williams strolling through the National Museum of African American History and Culture on Sunday?

Williams posted an Instagram story (a minute-long mash-up of video and photos) of her time at the newly opened Smithsonian site on Sunday. From the social media evidence, the 35-year-old athlete was part of a private tour given by none other than Lonnie Bunch, the museum's founding director. In one video, Bunch is describing the white lace shawl given to abolitionist Harriet Tubman by Queen Victoria of Britain in the late 19th century.

From the looks of it, the group toured all four floors of the museum, from the 19th century slave cabin located in the underground gallery to the exhibits honoring boxer Muhammad Ali and tennis player Arthur Ashe on the upper levels.

{blackbabes} Angela Bassett Joins Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’

Angela Bassett has joined the cast of Marvel Studios' Black Panther. She will play Ramonda, the mother of T'Challa, aka Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) in the Marvel mythology. Marvel just made the announcement.

The Oscar nominee joins Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke and Florence Kasumba in the cast. The superhero made his debut in Disney's Marvel Universe movies this summer in Captain America: Civil War.

In the comic series, Ramonda was the stepmother to T'Challa, whose actual mother died while giving birth to him. Ramonda was thought to have run away, but it was later discovered she had been kidnapped.

Black Panther, directed by Ryan Coogler, hits theaters February 16, 2018. Coogler and Joe Robert Cole are writing the script.

Bassett has been busy in Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story anthology series (she was Emmy nominated for roles in 2014 and 2015). She also made her directorial debut with Lifetime's Whitney Houston biopic Whitney last year.

{blackbabes} Janet Jackson on pregnancy: ‘I’m doing well’

Janet Jackson is in good spirits as her due date nears.

"Hey you guys… It's been awhile… but I'm still listening.. I feel your love and prayers.. Thank you.. and I'm doing well.. Al Hamdu lillah," the 50-year-old wrote on Twitter Saturday.

In April, Jackson announced plans to start a family and canceled the remaining dates of her comeback tour.

Since then, she's largely remained out of the spotlight.

In October, she was photographed in London walking alongside her billionaire Qatari husband, Wissam Al Mana. Jackson was wearing an oversize black ensemble that covered both her head and growing bump.

{blackbabes} Goldie Hawn -- Mariah Carey and Future Serenade On 71st Bday

1121-hudson-instagram-1

Goldie Hawn got the first-ever Mariah Carey and Future duet on her 71st birthday when the two rolled up to her dinner table and gave an impromptu performance of "Happy Birthday."

It all went down Saturday at Catch, L.A.'s new hot spot. Goldie's daughter, Kate Hudson, threw the dinner for about 15 of Goldie's closest. Kurt Russell and their sons, Boston, Wyatt and Oliver, were also there.

Mariah happened to be at the restaurant too, as well as Future, who was there for DJ Khaled's book release party. We're told the two wandered over for a quick chat, but ended up singing "Happy Birthday" to Goldie together.

Also there that night ... Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, Nas, Will.i.am, L.A. Reid and Ben Savage ... so, yeah, good luck getting a table.
