{blackbabes} Legends of Tomorrow First Look: Hourman Returns With the JSA Team

Legends of Tomorrow JSA Photos

Move over, Legends of Tomorrow. There's a new group of heroes in Nazi-occupied Paris.

In the CW series' Oct. 20 episode, the Waverider crew encounters the Justice Society of America when they travel to the war-torn land.

In the following photos, the team reunites with Patrick J. Adams' Hourman and meets some new JSA faces, including Commander Steel (played by iZombie's Matthew MacCaull), Stargirl (Wayward Pines' Sarah Grey) and a different iteration of Vixen, played by new series regular Maisie Richardson-Sellers (The Originals).

If you're sensing some tension between the two super groups, you're not wrong. According to the official episode description below, they will hardly be working together in peaceful cooperation.

The Legends travel to Nazi-occupied Paris, but find themselves surrounded by the Justice Society of America (AKA JSA.) The Legends discover a time aberration that threatens the JSA, but the JSA wants nothing to do with them or their help. Nevertheless, the Legends force their way into the JSA's mission to intercept and seize a mysterious package. Nate (Nick Zano) is desperate to prove that he should be part of the team, but he has a secret that he shares with his grandfather Commander Steel (Matthew MacCaull) that might make it difficult. Ray (Brandon Routh) is so focused on impressing the JSA, he puts himself and Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) in danger. Meanwhile, Stein (Victor Garber) has stepped in as the leader with Rip (Arthur Darvill) gone, but when decisions aren't being made Sara (Caity Lotz) seems to be the one calling the shots.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 premieres Thursday, Oct. 13 at 8/7c on The CW.

{blackbabes} Nia Long Joins Netflix's 'Dear White People' Series

She will recur on the forthcoming adaptation of the 2014 film.

Nia Long is headed to Netflix.

The actress has joined the streaming giant's Dear White People TV series in a recurring role, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Based on Justin Simien's 2014 crowdfunded movie, the series centers on a diverse group of students of color as they navigate a predominantly white Ivy League college where racial tensions are often swept under the rug. The series is a send-up of "post-racial" America that also touches on a universal story about forging one's own unique path.

Long will play Neika Hobbs, a Winchester University African-American studies professor who is whip-smart and confident but whose pulled-together professional life contrasts a more complicated personal one.

She joins Logan Browning (Powers) and Brandon P. Bell, who will reprise his role from the film.

Simien will write and direct several episodes of the series. Yvette Lee Bowser (Black-ish) and the film's Stephanie Allain and Julia Lebedev will exec produce.

The series hails from Lionsgate, whose sister company Roadside Attractions released the movie. The 10-episode, half-hour series begins production this month for a 2017 worldwide premiere on Netflix.

Long's recent credits include House of Lies, ABC's Uncle Buck and Keanu. She will next be seen in Lifetime's Beaches remake opposite Idina Menzel. She is repped by CAA, Primary Wave Entertainment and Meyer & Downs.

{blackbabes} Famous families gather at annual Revlon luncheon

https://nyppagesix.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/610795948-1.jpg?quality=90&strip=all&w=915

It was a family affair at the second annual Revlon philanthropy luncheon, held at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles on Tuesday, which celebrated the work of world-renowned UCLA cancer researcher Dr. Dennis Slamon.

Some mother-daughter combos co-hosted the event with Revlon chairman Ronald Perelman and CEO Fabian Garcia, including Peggy Lipton with daughter Rashida Jones; Kelly Meyer with daughter Carson and stepdaughters Jennifer and Sarah; and Shelli Azoff and daughter Allison Statter.

Also co-hosting was Violet Grey founder Cassandra Grey, who was there with her husband, Paramount chief Brad Grey.

Penny Marshall attended with daughter Tracy Reiner and granddaughter Bella Conlan. Vicky McCarty Iovine came with daughter Jessica.

But the most interesting family get-together was Don Johnson sitting between current wife Kelley Phleger and ex-wife Melanie Griffith — we hear they all get along great.

Also in the crowd were current Revlon ambassador Halle Berry and former ambassadors Cindy Crawford and Jaime King, Almay ambassador Elaine Irwin, Courteney Cox, Brett Ratner, Anjelica Huston, and Ron Meyer.

{blackbabes} Dance Drama From Jennifer Beals, Kenny Ortega & ‘Hit The Floor’ Creator Set At Fox

Jennifer Beals

Jennifer Beals, star of one of the most iconic dance movies ever, Flashdance, has teamed with Kenny Ortega, choreographer and director-producer of the High School Musical franchise, and James Larosa, creator of VH1's cheerleading drama series Hit the Floor, for The Edge, a dance drama that has been set up at Fox.

Written and executive produced by Larosa, The Edge is set in the LA dance world, where it's survival of the fittest. And no one is more fit than this ensemble of ambitious, sometimes ruthless women and men who have trained their whole lives to be the best and won't let anything—or anyone—get in their way.

Beals, Ortega and Larosa executive produce; there are no current plans for Beals to act. Annie Burgstede and Joanna Colbert co-executive produce. Sony Pictures TV is the studio.

The L Word alumna Beals will next be seen as the female lead in Taken, NBC's straight-to-series adaptation of the hit movie franchise. She's repped by APA and Felker Toczek. Ortega is director and choreographer of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Fox's TV remake of the cult classic set to premiere on October 20. He's repped by Paradigm and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller. Larosa is repped by Original Artists.

The future of Hit the Floor, which was a breakout for VH1 when it launched in 2013, is unclear. The network has not made a decision beyond Season 3 but the series seemed to wrap with the recent hourlong summer special, which resolved the cliffhangers in the third season finale.

{blackbabes} Serena Williams Fears for the Safety of Her Nephew, 18, Amid Increasing Police Violence: 'I Won't Be Silent'

Serena Williams Fears for Her Nephew Amid Increasing Police Violence
Timur Emek/Getty Images

09/28/2016 AT 12:10 AM EDT

Serena Williams is speaking out about the increasing police violence of unarmed African Americans.

In a candid and powerful
Facebook post on Tuesday, the athlete expressed how she fears for the safety of her 18-year-old nephew.

Williams, 35, shared what had happened earlier in the day when she asked her nephew to drive her to her meetings.

"In the distance I saw cop on the side of the road. I quickly checked to see if he was obliging by the speed limit. Than I remembered that horrible video of the woman in the car when a cop shot her boyfriend," she wrote, referencing the
shooting of Philando Castile, whose death in Minnesota was captured on video by his girlfriend.

"All of this went through my mind in a matter of seconds. I even regretted not driving myself. I would never forgive myself if something happened to my nephew. He's so innocent. So were all 'the others,'" said Williams, whose half-sister was killed in a 2003 drive-by shooting in Compton, California.

The tennis champion's post comes just days after the deaths of two African American men
Keith Lamont Scott and Terence Crutcher, both who were fatally shot by police in Charlotte and Tulsa, respectively.

"I am a total believer that not 'everyone' is bad It is just the ones that are ignorant, afraid, uneducated, and insensitive that is affecting millions and millions of lives," Williams continued in her post.

She concluded, "I had to take a look at me. What about my nephews? What if I have a son and what about my daughters? As Dr. Martin Luther King said 'There comes a time when silence is betrayal.' I Won't Be Silent."

Williams previously spoke out about police brutality and gun violence in October 2015, when she offered her support of Black Lives Matter.

Later that day, police shot and wounded an African American man in El Cajon, California. A woman close to the scene captured the shooting on video.

Serena Williams (facebook)

Today I asked my 18 year old nephew (to be clear he's black) to drive me to my meetings so I can work on my phone #safteyfirst. In the distance I saw cop on the side of the road. I quickly checked to see if he was obliging by the speed limit. Than I remembered that horrible video of the woman in the car when a cop shot her boyfriend. All of this went through my mind in a matter of seconds. I even regretted not driving myself. I would never forgive myself if something happened to my nephew. He's so innocent. So were all "the others"
I am a total believer that not "everyone" is bad It is just the ones that are ignorant, afraid, uneducated, and insensitive that is affecting millions and millions of lives.
Why did I have to think about this in 2016? Have we not gone through enough, opened so many doors, impacted billions of lives? But I realized we must stride on- for it's not how far we have come but how much further still we have to go.

I than wondered than have I spoken up? I had to take a look at me. What about my nephews? What if I have a son and what about my daughters?
As Dr. Martin Luther King said " There comes a time when silence is betrayal".

I
Won't
Be
Silent

{blackbabes} Blige, Clinton Interview Clips Face Ridicule Online

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A pair of clips teasing Mary J. Blige's interview with Hillary Clinton on her upcoming Apple Music show "The 411" isn't winning over social media users.

The teaser featuring the R&B singer crooning Bruce Springsteen's "American Skin (41 Shots)" before clasping hands with Clinton was mocked online after it was released Tuesday by Apple.

Inae Oh of Mother Jones wrote in in a story titled "Someone Please Explain What the Hell Is Going on With This Mary J. Blige, Hillary Clinton Interview" that the clips "created far more confusion than the excitement Apple likely intended."

Springsteen wrote "American Skin (41 Shots)" about the 1999 police shooting death of Guinean immigrant Amadou Diallo.

"The 411 with Mary J. Blige" is set to debut Sept. 30.

{blackbabes} NBC’S BELOVED NEW TUESDAY DRAMA ‘THIS IS US’ RECEIVES FULL-SEASON ORDER

This Is Us - Season Pilot

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Sept. 27, 2016 — NBC has ordered an additional five episodes of the network's critically beloved new drama series "This Is Us," bringing the full season order to 18.

"It's a rare moment in this business when a show so instantly delivers both critical acclaim and hit ratings, but 'This Is Us' is just such an extraordinary achievement," said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment. "Creator Dan Fogelman, along with co-directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa and the gifted producers, cast and crew, has delivered the kind of heart and depth that resonates with every segment of the audience, and we're proud to extend its presence on our schedule."

"We are thrilled. This order for a complete first season of 18 episodes is exactly what we'd wanted and hoped for," said executive producer Dan Fogelman. "We'd carefully mapped out an 18-chapter story for the first year of the show, and this allows us to follow through with our exact initial intent. And to get the order so early on is a tremendous show of confidence and a boost for our entire cast and crew. I'm starting to sound like a broken record but I have to thank Dana, Gary, Jonnie, Howard and my amazing partners at 20th as well as Bob and Jen and the fine folks at NBC for continuing to do absolutely everything right by me and this show. I'd gush more but I have to go back to work."

Last week's "This Is Us" series premiere generated a 4.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 14.3 million viewers overall in L+5 averages from Nielsen Media Research — an increase of 1.7 rating points going from live plus same day to L+5. The 4.5 makes it the #1 series premiere of the fall season to date, while the show's L+SD rating makes it NBC's highest-rated scripted program in that Tuesday 10-11 p.m. time period in more than six years.

On digital platforms, it's NBC's most-viewed series premiere on record, more than doubling the network's previous record for most one-day views of a debuting series across NBC digital platforms.

"This Is Us" was the most anticipated new series heading into fall with its trailer viewed more than 127 million times following the show's announcement at the May upfronts.

Critics have raved about "This Is Us," with the Huffington Post saying, "Dan Fogelman's new show harkens back to the glory days of feel-good TV. Get ready to fall in crazy, stupid love with NBC's 'This Is Us.'" USA Today added: "…even if the season was crowded with great series, 'This Is Us' would stand out as a welcome and increasingly rare addition." The New York Times called it "heartwarming" and Entertainment Weekly said the series is "brilliantly cast."

"This Is Us" is a refreshingly honest and provocative series that follows a unique ensemble whose paths cross and their life stories intertwine in curious ways. We find several of them share the same birthday, and so much more than anyone would expect. From the writer and directors of "Crazy, Stupid, Love." is a smart, modern series that will challenge your everyday presumptions about the people you think you know.

The cast includes Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan and Ron Cephas Jones.

Dan Fogelman serves as writer and executive producer with Don Todd. Jess Rosenthal, Charlie Gogolak and directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra also executive produce. "This Is Us" is produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

{blackbabes} Tatyana Ali's Baby Boy's Name Revealed! Find Out What the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Star Named Her Newborn

Tatyana Ali

Ladies and gentlemen, the wait is finally over!

Just three days after E! News exclusively confirmed that Tatyana Ali welcomed her first child into the world, we now have the name of her baby boy.

E! News has exclusively learned that the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star and husband Dr. Vaughn Rasberry named their son Edward Aszard Rasberry.

The happy news comes after the actress chose to keep the sex of her baby a secret throughout her pregnancy. But she also couldn't hide the excitement surrounding her baby's arrival.

"Being pregnant is a magical time. I've discovered pregnancy brain is a true phenomenon—and for those who don't know, it's a mental fog, sometimes rearing its funny little head as forgetfulness or absentmindedness probably caused by all of the extra blood flow in the body and the huge doses of hormones I'm producing," she joked in a pregnancy blog with People. "I should probably make my disclaimer here: I am NOT a doctor."

While a pregnancy journey is enough to keep any mom-to-be busy, Tatyana also enjoyed a romantic wedding ceremony in July when she exchanged vows with Dr. Vaughn in front of 120 guests at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills.

"It was truly a magical and heartfelt ceremony," Tatyana's wedding planner Michael Russo shared with Entertainment Tonight. "Tatyana was glowing as she walked down the aisle."

While the actress has yet to post on social media since the birth of her child, it's safe to say both mom and dad are a tad busy enjoying the first days of parenthood.

"For us, the joy of parenting will be to discover who we have been given the privilege to care for, protect, nurture and guide," she wrote to People. "We'll wait for our baby to show us who they are, starting on their birth day. Until then, we're happy to live in the fertile soil of dreamland, where anything is possible."

{blackbabes} Viola Davis describes becoming Rape Foundation advocate

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Viola Davis said Sunday that her own experiences with sexual assault led her to become an advocate for the Rape Foundation and encouraged others to visit treatment centers so they'll become supporters.

"You must," she said. "And then let your heart do the rest."

"Myself, my mother, my sisters, my friend Rebecca, my friend from childhood, we all have one thing in common: We are all survivors of sexual assault in some way, shape or form," Davis said Sunday at a benefit for the foundation.

It provides free medical treatment, counseling and legal aid to sexual assault victims at its Rape Treatment Center and Stuart House, which specializes in caring for sexually abused children.

An advocate for the group since playing its founder in a 2010 film, Davis was among the guests of honor at the organization's annual fundraising brunch held at billionaire Ron Burkle's Greenacres estate in Beverly Hills, California

Davis said half of the survivors helped by the Rape Foundation are children, adding that one in four girls and one in six boys are sexually abused before age 18.

Her own sister is among the casualties: She was sexually assaulted at age 8 and still struggles today.

"I continue to pray for my sister," said Davis, who has previously spoken publicly about her sister's attack.

The brunch was held in a tented space in Burkle's backyard, where "Black Panther" star Chadwick Boseman, "Vampire Diaries" actress Nina Dobrev and the supporting cast on Davis' "How to Get Away With Murder" were among the guests in 95-degree heat.

David Schwimmer was the master of ceremonies. The actor-director started working with the Rape Foundation during his "Friends" days and has served on its board of directors for the last 12 years. He said the brunch supports a year's worth of services at the Rape Treatment Center and Stuart House.

The Rape Foundation also provides educational programs for first responders and middle- and high-school students.

NEW YORK (AP) — Rihanna ran through her pop and R&B hits, Eddie Vedder partnered with Chris Martin and Kendrick Lamar was enthusiastic and energetic during his hour-long set at the Global Citizen Festival in New York.

Metallica, Ellie Goulding, Usher and Yandel also performed familiar songs Saturday at the free event on the Great Lawn in Central Park. The multi-hour show aired live on MSNBC.

Major Lazer kicked off the festival, performing hits such as "Lean On" and was backed by lively dancers. At one point they all wore New York Mets jerseys onstage. Demi Lovato, who replaced Selena Gomez, followed with strong singing.

Fans earned free tickets by promoting the importance of education. The event was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, Salma Hayek Pinault, Chelsea Handler, Priyanka Chopra and Hugh Jackman and his actress-wife Deborra-Lee Furness.

Rihanna closed the show with a number of her smash hits, from "We Found Love" to "Umbrella" to the recent "Needed Me." Most of the performers thanked the feverish audience for doing acts of kindness to earn the tickets.

"We got global citizens in the house tonight — I myself, I'm from Barbados so I came a long way," Rihanna said. "There are people all over the globe that need help."

As fans waited for Rihanna to perform, Martin — who had just performed — came back onstage to stall. He sang Prince's "Raspberry Beret" while strumming the guitar, and freestyled new lyrics about why Rihanna was late, which earned laughs and applause from the crowd. He joked that the singer was doing her makeup and said he would perform the Prince song again.

Metallica earned one of the night's loudest ovations and Usher wore a black shirt that read, "Silence is content."

The Global Citizen Festival is in its fifth year. Last year's event featured Michelle Obama, Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, Beyonce and Pearl Jam.

{blackbabes} Tatyana Ali Welcomes a Son

Tatyana Ali Welcomes Son

It's a Fresh Prince for Tatyana Ali!

The actress and singer gave birth to her first child, a son, on Friday, Sept. 16, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The baby boy is the first child for Ali, 37, and her new husband, Dr. Vaughn Rasberry.

The couple were married in an intimate Beverly Hills ceremony on July 16.

Rasberry and Ali, who have been together about two years, announced their engagement and pregnancy news in March.

"We're reading the books, imagining, dreaming out loud," the actress told PEOPLE in April. "A lot of just wondering who this person is going to be, who this person is, and you don't really know until they're here. We're ready for the adventure!"

Ali has also blogged for PEOPLE throughout the later stages of her pregnancy — first by sharing why she wanted to keep her first child's sex a mystery until her delivery day.

"Friends and family have so much to say about our choice, but we wouldn't have it any other way," she wrote in May. "It is so much fun to have people guessing and betting when they are around us."

Ali has also been generous about the details of the journey she and Rasberry have been on during her first pregnancy — including her newfound sense of superhero-mom intuition.

"It's so overwhelming, the responsibility, the transformation, preparing for childbirth," she wrote in June. "How would my life change?

"I can actually feel my superhuman gene switching on," she added. "Senses heightened, split awareness, nesting in full effect, achieving bra sizes and levels of organization I have never reached before, a drive to put the needs of my child before myself??!! This is just the beginning!"

{blackbabes} Tennis stars Williams, Djokovic take their game to Armani

MILAN (AP) — If even Giorgio Armani has a negligee-inspired dress, then baby doll looks are definitely a trend.

Armani's take featured a layer of black sheer pleating over a dark floral pattern, finished with poufy translucent shoulders. Baby-doll looks are hot this season on the runways at Milan Fashion Week, with a parade of lacy eyelet and pleated mini-dresses, many featuring feathery touches.

The flighty, breezy looks are often accompanied by sturdy shoes, balancing a young women's desire to be sure-footed with her more romantic side.

Highlights from Friday's womenswear previews for next spring and summer, with shows from Armani, Diesel Black Gold and Versace:

___

LOVE SET

Tennis stars Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic took their game to Milan Fashion Week, taking front row seats Friday at the Giorgio Armani show.

Williams, wearing a sleeveless pearl-beaded top that showed off her powerful arms and high-waisted black trousers, gushed over Armani, saying his creations are "so amazing, so exciting."

She described her own style as classic "but I always add a little bit of a young fun trend to it."

Djokovic and his wife Jelena hosted a gala dinner earlier in the week to raise money to support early childhood education in disadvantaged communities. The event was attended by Anna Wintour and Armani's niece Roberta Armani, who won bids to play tennis with Serena Williams in a matchup dubbed "The Queen of Tennis vs. The Queens of Fashion."

___

FEMALE POWER

Donatella Versace is out to empower women, with the soundtrack for the runway show for spring/summer 2017 urging woman to "take the leap. If we do nothing, we get nothing."

The designer dedicated this season's runway show "to the women making changes."

And she got a little help from friends Naomi Campbell and Gigi Hadid, who did turns on the runway. Campbell looked fierce in a red-white-and-blue track jacket and matching high-slit skirt with lace up boots. Hadid sported a mini dress with lace details with a technical overcoat and high-heeled sandals.

The Versace collection for next spring and summer focused on sportswear, which the designer called "the future of fashion." Versace has taken on the challenge to make sportswear both luxurious and glamorous.

The looks promoted power and action, without being overtly athletic. The colors were strong hues of blue, white, green, red and black, and stripes were prevalent, often on the diagonal. Skirts and tops retained their femininity with vertical stripes of color dangling like pretty ribbons. Versace's body conscious knits clung to the figure, and showed off the midriff. Technical fabric rushed around the figure, revealing leg with a zip and tightening with draw strings.

____

CHARMANI

Giorgio Armani seems to have harnessed celestial energy for his next collection, an ode to multi-culturalism.

The silhouette was soft, swathing the Armani woman in sarongs, fringe and tassels. The prints, in deep blue and black, contributed to the mood with a swirling effect. A crystal encrusted evening dress recalled the night sky.

Armani has applied hippie and ethnic touches to his classic tailoring this round. A notch-collar jacket defies convention with a cascade of fringe. Tassels swing freely from a belt, layering a short skirt. Head scarves wrapped like turbans complete the look, offering a slightly exotic vibe.

The designer bared the leg with gathered shorts that are more bloomer than Bermuda, cut from sheer fabrics for lightness. The shape was echoed in a short bubble dress.

Armani dubbed the collection "Charmani," defining it as "the lightness of the body, seductively revealing itself, finding a new balance between discipline and freedom."

____

FASHION CALENDAR SHIFTS

Armani gave up his position as Milan Fashion Week anchor this year, ceding the last day of previews on Monday to a cadre of young designers.

The Milan fashion stalwart has long rued showing on the last day, a sacrifice to make sure that top fashion editors who are eager to rush off to Paris for the next round of fashion previews stay until the end in Milan.

This is Armani's season for calendar experimentation.

Emporio Armani, the designer's line for youthful dressers, is decamping for Paris this year to mark the redesign of the brand's St. Germain store.

___

URBAN COUTURE

The Giamba girl may make her home in Milan, but she is equally at ease in Paris or Los Angeles. She hops about Europe on low-cost airlines, waking up in one city and going to sleep in another. And she dreams of the desert.

Designer Giambattista Valli shows his couture line in Paris, and this collection for the Giamba line launched in Milan several seasons ago has couture vibe that is urban.

A desert scene print on tank tops fulfills the Giamba girl's romantic notions as she trods the metropolitan landscape, and a tiger motif, provocatively placed on the front of leggings, makes clear she is to be reckoned with. Her fascination with the American West is confirmed with dresses with a frilly version of a cowboy shirt-bodice that falls right into long fringe.

Lace and tulle fill her wardrobe, but she tops the frillier dresses with boxy jackets. An eyelet mini-skirt with scarf hemline was paired with a matching ruffled crop top decorated with butterfly pins. Many of the looks are transparent, and while designer Giambattista Valli flouts modesty on the runway, there's nothing a slip can't handle.

A final styling point: metallic lines on the model's foreheads, arching, circular and straight.

___

UTILITARIAN CHIC

Designer Andreas Melbostad created pretty, utilitarian looks combining frills with military detailing for the Diesel Black Gold label.

The duality is underlined by the color choices: dusty pink and faded olive.

Ruffled baby doll dresses in military shades were paired with sneaker-boots, while pink high-waisted trousers were worn with bra tops. Hair was braided and collected into buns for a look of fierce femininity — think Katniss of "The Hunger Games" franchise.

Jeans had eyelet panels and lace trimming for a romantic effect, while a plethora of drawstrings swinging from jackets promised secret purposes.

Gladiator sandals and sneakers added to the warrior spirit.
